WJAG Plans ’52
Lincoln Caravan
September 2, 1951, was quite
a red letter day for folks in the
radio station WJAG radio area,
That was the day four big buses
left Norfolk for Lincoln to at
tend the opening day of the 1951
Nebraska state fair.
And quite a day it was, too,
for the 150 or so WJAG listeners
who took the trip. At a truly
nominal rate, WJAG offered a
day of trouble-free fun and
sight-seeing at Nebraska’s great
est outdoor event.
With the station takine care
of all transportation and ticket
arrangements the caravaners
were freed of all traffic worries
and ticket stand crowding, a
convenience worth the entire
cost of the caravan participation
fee.
Everyone of the caravaners
commented on their return to
Norfolk that they had had a
wonderful time.
And, according t o Vernon
Stedry, station sales manager, it
looks as if the 1952 WJAG state
fair caravan will be an even
bigger success.
State Fair Grounds
Get Improvements
Spectators at the 1952 Ne
braska state fair will see new
evidences of the fair board’s
year-round policy of improving
facilities and services for the
benefit of state fair patrons.
Completed in time for the 1952
event will be a building program
amounting to some $115,000,
eveey cent of which was paid fo*
from Fair board funds.
Included on this improvement
program are a toilet-shower
dressing room building for the
Midway, several new and more
modern concession buildings,
much new curbing and guttering,
the widening of the ground’s
main street and a new hay and
feed building on the track.
In addition, every street in
side the grounds which is not
already hard-surfaced will be
rocked and oil-matted.
This comprehensive improve
ment program is in line with tht
state fair board’s policy of giving
Nebraskans a convenient and
completely - equipped place to
hold the state’s greatest outdoor
event.
