MEYERS—Mr. and Mrs. James Meyers of Orchard, a daughter, born Tuesday, August 5, in An telope Memorial hospital, Neligh. Mrs. Meyers is the oldest daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. George Ruroede of Ewing. DERICKSON — Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Derickson of Star, a son, Russell Dean, weighing 7 pounds, 4 ounces, bom on Tues day, August 12, in the O’Neill hospital. REISER—Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Reiser of Spencer, twin boys, Mel vin Michael and Marvin Francis, weighing 8 pounds and 8 pounds 12 ounces, respectively, born re cently in Sacred Heart hospital, Lynch. KOLAR—Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kolar of Monowi, a daughter, Barbara Ann, weighing 6 pounds 3 ounces, born recently in Sacred Heart hospital, Lynch. O'NEILL LOCALS Mrs. Dean Beckwith of Emmet spent Friday, August 8, and Mon day with Mrs. Ralph Beckwith. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Jones at tended a Nelson family reunion in the Polk park on Sunday. A picnic dinner at noon was en joyed by about 50 people. Mrs. Jones’s mother’s maiden name was Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. J. Victor Johnson attended the hay days celebra tion in Atkinson Monday. Mr. and ‘Mrs. Ernest Brinkman and son, David, of Lincoln ar rived last Thursday to spend a week with relatives here and at Atkinson. They visited Mr. Brinkman’s father, A. J. Brink man, at Atkinson; his brother, Ar thur, in O’Neill, and Mrs. Brink man’s sister, Mrs. Helen Kreym borg, at O’Neill. Mrs. Arthur Harley and child ren of Atkinson were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Beckwith. M. H. Horiskey attended the races in Lincoln this week and also visited the state democratic convention in Grand Island. Mrs. Marion Tessier and her brother, Francis Dempsey, de parted for Denver, Colo., Monday morning after attending the fun eral rites for their father, the late Harry Dempsey. Mrs. George Pierson and sons have joined her husband in Den ver, Colo., where he is now sta tioned. He was transferred from California. Mrs. Pierson had spent a month with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kloppenborg, and with other relatives. SICK AND INJURED EWING—Mrs. James Boies and son, Steven Lee came home Sun day after spending a week at the home of her sister and brother in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Clark, at O’Neill. Mrs. Boies and Steven Lee were released from the hospital in O’Neill on Satur day, August 2. . . Dwight Schroe der is convalescing at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Her man Schroeder of Ewing from a back injury received early Wed nesday morning, August 6, when the truck he was driving for the Ewing ’Co-operative Creamery went out of control, leaving the road, crashing into a tree, re sulting in considerable damage to the truck. Dwight was found unconscious about 6:30 a.m. by Mrs. Ray Weeder. She telephoned Julian Sojka, manager of the creamery. He left immediately for the scene of the accident, ac companied by Gail Boies. An ambulance was called from El gin. Dwight was taken to the Antelope Memorial hospital in Neligh. X-rays showed a back in jury which will give Dwight an enforced vacation from his duties at the creamery. PAGE — Frank Cronk, who has been a patient in Our Lady of Lourdes hospital, Norfolk, has re turned home. . . Charles Russell and daughtvs went to Sioux City Saturday to visit Mrs. Russell at the Methodist hospital. She had submitted to an operation Thurs day. Her condition is “improved.” ... Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Davis drove to Sioux City Sunday to see Mrs. Mabel Davis, the mother of Mr. Davis. She is in the Methodist hospital following surgery. Her condition is “improved.” . . Mr. and Mrs. Merwyn French, Mrs. Duane Dorr and Mrs. Raymond Heiss went to Hastngs Friday to visit Miss Marie Heiss, a patient in Mary Lanning hospital following a major operation. Her condi tion is “satisfactory.” CHAMBERS—Glen Adams was taken to the Neligh hospital Mon day, August 11 for a major opera tion the next day. . . Mrs. Charles Grimes was quite badly injured by k cow, although it is thought not seriously. . . Alvin Johnson returned from the Lutheran hos pital, Norfolk, Wednesday, Au gust 6. . . Jim Cavanaugh under went a major operation at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Nor folk, last Thursday. He is do ing well”. . . Lavern Hoerle is a patient at O’Neill hos pital. .. Ronnie Young has been ill at his home for the past week. He is “improving” at present. INMAN — Mr. and Mrs. Fred Moore apd Mrs. C. Zimbleman went to Rochester, Minn., on Wednesday, August 6, where Mrs. Zirrtbleman will go through the clinic. Mr. Moore returned Friday but the ladies remained in Rochester... Mrs. Sarah Sholes is a patient in an Omaha hospital . . . Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brittell and daughter, Betty Jean, and Mrs. Lottie Thompson went to Norfolk Monday where Mrs. Brit tell will go through a clinic, in Rochester. WED AT FARM HOME . . . Mr. and Mrs. Merlyn Anderson. (above) were married Monday, August 4, at the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Walters of O’Neill. Mrs. Anderson is the former Miss Florence Walters. The bridegroom is a member of the navy.—O’Neill Photo Co. O’NEILL—D. N. Loy was pain fully injured Monday at the ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shaw, south of Bassett. He fell' from a scaffold while doing some repair work on the house. He was badly bruised about the face and ribs. The ligaments in one leg were torn loose and one ankle sprained. He is “improving” in his home in O’Neill. . . Mrs. J. C. Harnish fell Wednesday afternoon and suffered a possible fractured hip. She is the widow of the late J. C. Harnish, former Holt county treasurer. . . Carlyle Wasachek returned Wednesday from Bryan Memorial hospital, Lincoln, where he had been a patient. OTNEILL—Mrs. Ida Williamson is a patient in the O’Neill hospi tal. . . Mrs. Lee Brady, who was a patient in St. Joseph’s hospital, Omaha, returned to her home on Tuesday. She is “doing well” . . . William Schroder returned to his home Thursday, August 7, from the Veterans hospital, Grand Is land. AMELIA—Ed White, Elmer Coolidge and son, Charles, Hay Coolidge and Jimmie Grimes went to Greeley, Colo., to visit Harry Coolidge, who is still in a “serious condition” following in juries he received when a truck backed over him. He was re ported to be improved Friday, but not out of danger. LYNCH—Mrs. Frank Hammon was in Norfolk Monday, August 4, for a medical checkup. Large Crowd Attends Picnic and Ball Game Over 100 people attended a pic nic dinner followed by a ball game on Sunday afternoon held in the pasture of the William Derickson place near Star. Peo ple from Venus, Walnut, Star end Dorsey attended. Following the picnic the Star and Dorsey ball players were de feated by the players from Venus and Walnut by a score of 16-5. The Derickson place has been a popular place all summer on Sundays for get-to-gethers and ball games but the crowd Sun day was the largest yet to attend. 79-Year-Old Man on Extensive Trip AMELIA—Tom Fort, 79, of De Witt, a cousin of William Fryrear, has been visiting here the past week. He has been making an extensive trip, including Kansas and Illinois and plans to tour the Black Hills, Yellowstone park and other places of interest before re turning home. He is 79-years-old and is making the trip alone. Other Amelia News Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lydon of Ewing, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Denni son of Jacksonville, Fla., Bobbie McCaffrey of Alliance and John McCaffrey, jr., who is in the navy’ were dinner guests Wednesday August 6, of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pierce. They are the children of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Mc Caffrey and are nieces and neph ews of Frank Pierce and Mrs Mamie Sammons. Mr. and Mrs. Beryl' Waldo drove to Yankton, S.D., Friday taking their sister-in-law, Mrs Fred Waldo, that far enroute to her home in Sidney, Mont. The Beryl Waldos returned home bv wav of Pickstown, S.D. Dean Prewitt was inducted into the armed forces Monday, August Mr. and Mrs. Gale Fix and family of Scottsbluff have been visiting at the Elmer Fix and Mrs. Alice Prewitt homes since Sunday.
