Preceding the business meeting a demonstration on ad justing spark plugs for a John Deere tractor was given by Den nis Scheer and Paul Gunter. The group gave pledges to the American and 4-H flags, led by Janell Hoke and Sharon Schmidt. Mrs. Lionel Gunter read a prayer for 4-H members, which is to be memorized. The meeting was called to or der bv the president, Jackie Mo sel. Roll call was answered by naming a favorite color. Twen ty-six members and four visit ors, Ronald Neisius, Dick Fry, Larry and Lyle Larson, were present. County achievement day, which will be held Friday, Aug ust 15, at O’Neill, was discussed. Judging, demonstrations and ex hibiting will be practiced The next meeting will be held August 22 at the Melvin Scheer home. This wilt be the club’s 'hievement day. Other Ewinq News Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Wood, who left Ewing several years ago to make their home in Lincoln, have moved back to Ewing and are making their home with Mrs. Wood’s aunt, Miss Vina Wood. Mr. Wood is employed by the mo tor vehicle division of the state of Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. A1 Lindenberg and three children of Morrow ville, Kans., have been guests the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gail Boies and also guests of Mrs. Rose Bauer and family and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bohn. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Tressler and two daughters were recent guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Rockey and family. They also called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Ruby. The Tressler family make their home in Yuba City, Calif., and Mrs. Tressler is remembered at Ewing as the for mer Sarah Stanton. Mr. and Mrs. Coe Butler left Monday for their home in Lin coln after spending the weekend at the home of her sister, Miss Vina Wood, and his mother, Mrs. Leota Butler. Miss Fern Pruden, accompanied by Mrs. Buford Carlson and son, Danny, and Mrs. Byron Hall, all of Orchard, attended the shrine circus in Norfolk on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cary and daughters, Leola and Nila, re turned Saturday, July 19, from a trip throughout the Black Hills, S. D. They also attended the pas sion play at Spearfish, S. D. They reported having seen cars from 45 states, one from Alaska, and one from Germany while in this popular vacation area. Maine, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts were the three states not repre sented. Mrs. Wayne Lee and children were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cary last week. INila Cary accompanied them home for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Schueth went to Humphrey on Wednes day, July30, to visit at the home of their son, Leo Schleuth, and family. Mrs. Wilma Eppenbach accompanied them as far as Nor folk and returned home the same day by bus. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas King and family of Oswego, 111., are guests at the home of her mother, Mrs. Grace Briggs. O'NEILL LOCALS M. F. O’Donnell left Thursday, July 31, for his home in Dallas, Tex., after visiting relatives in O’Neill. Enroute to his home he stopped in Salina, Kans., where he vsited his sister-in-law, a he visited his brother and sister in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward O’ Donnell. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight C. Worcester were Mr. Worcester’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Worcester of White River, S.D. Roy Goree came Friday, August 1, to get Mrs. Goree, who had been visiting her sister and broth er, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Walk er. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Van Vleck went to Kansas City, Mo., Wed nesday, July 30, on business. They returned home Friday, August 1. Jerry Verzal of Atkinson spent the past week with his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Quinn. Haycrop Harvested for Church Benefit — INMAN—A quarter section of land leased by the Inman Metho dist church in 1948 to aid in build ing an addition to the church through bluegrass stripping and its hay crop, once more has yield ed its crop to haying crews. On Monday and Tuesday, July 25 and 26, members and friends of the congregation put ud 20 stacks of hay. Proceeds will go to help pay for the Maxcy mem orial addition. Biggest Cattle Run Since November Expected • The biggest cattle run since last November is expected to day (Thursday) at the O'Neill Livestock Market. The abnor mal receipts are attributed to poor pasture conditions in the sandhills area. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Asher went to Valentine Saturday to visit in the M. E. Asher and Don Asher homes. They returned Sunday accompanied by Mrs. C. H. Chambers, who had spent several weeks visiting in Valen tine, and by the Misses Evalyn and Donna Asher and Esther Kaiser, who had spent a week r visiting in the Asher homes there. Mrs. Lillian Marne and son, Billy, of Ute, la., returned to their home Tuesday, July 29, after visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. H, Shriner. Mrs. Marne and Mrs. Shriner are sisters. Donald Sparks and Wayne Schollmeyer spent Friday, Aug ust 1, in Grand Island. Robert Wallace of Omaha spent from Monday, July 28, until Sat urday, August 2,with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. J.
