Judge Towels and Luncheon Sets — EWING—The Gjolden Glean ers 4-H club met at the home of Mrs. Frank Noffke, jr., Wednes day, July 30. Roll call was answered by tell ing a way to make the home spar kle. Wre judged towels and lunch eon sets. We practiced on dem onstrations which will be giv en achievement day, August 15, at O’Neill. We plan to give about four demonstrations. Our problem for the next meet ing will be making drawer di viders for our dressers. The 4-H president, Judy Cloyd, has been visiting relatives. Malcom-Beckwith Nuptials August 9— Miss Marlene Malcolm, daugh ter of Mrs. Frances Malcolm of O’Neill, and Daryle Beckwith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Beck with of Emmet, will be united in marriage Saturday, August 9, at 2 o’clock in the Methodist church in O’Neill. Mary Ann Coenen Is 7 — Mrs. Joseph Coenen entertained a group of girls and boys Mon day afternoon in honor of her daughter, Mary Ann, on her 7th birthday anniversary.. Games were played during the after noon after which Mrs. Coenen served refreshments consisting of birthday cake, jello and kool-ade. Entertain Young People — Mr. and Mrs. Homer Ernst en tertained the young people of the Center Union church on Tuesday evening with a dinner at their farm home. Games were played by the group following the din ner. Pfc. Ardell Bright departed early Sunday with the Norfolk company F of the Nebraska na tional guard. The guardsmen went by truck convoy to Camp McCoy, Wise., for two weeks of ! encampment. BICYCLE WINNER EWING—Paul Gunter was the winner of a bicycle at Ralph Munn’s Red and White store, when the recent label contest end ed. Other contestants who were high on the list were Leo Ruther, Grover Shaw, Gene Daniels, all of Ewing and Eugene Kleckner of Clearwater. Each were given a certificate valued at $5 in trade. O’NEILL LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. Orville Lowry, Barbara and Paul and Mrs. Lar ry Luber came Tuesday from Memphis, Tenn., for a visit at the Roy Lowry home and with other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Johnston of Bloomfield, la., spent from Wed nesday, July 30, until Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson. Mrs Edwin Morey of Sioux City, la., is visiting her mother, Mrs. Iva Hopkins. A picnic dinner was en joyed at noon. The afternoon was spent informally. Those in at tendance from Ewing were Mr. and Mrs. William Wulf, Mr. and Mrs. George Jefferies and Bonnie Jo, Mrs. Wilma Daniels, Bethyl, Shary and Gene, Mrs. Roy Wright, Patsy and Royce. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Muff, Mor ris and Donald McKamy, all of O’Neill, were guests at the George Jefferies home on Wednesday. July 30. Mrs. Herbert Kirschmier ac companied by Mrs. Lena Kirsch mier made a business trip to Ne ligh on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Maben and Netalee were guests on Wednes day, July 30, at the George Jef feries and William Wulf homes. Miss Leola Cary is one of the young teachers who has enrolled in the of-campus school course in “Human Behavior and Develop ment’ which is sponsored by the Wayne State Teachers’ college. The course is being held in ONeill. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cary and daughters spent Sunday at Butte where they were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sta ples. Mr. and Mrs. Ebben Grafft and their granddaughter, Gwendolyn Grafft, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Spangler and children drove to Beemer Sunday where they joined Gwendolyn’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Grafft, and family of Omaha for a picnic dinner. Gwendolyn, who has been a guest of her grandparents for some time, returned to Omaha with her parents. Mrs. Arthur Kropp and family accompanied by Mrs. Jessie An gus and Miss Lila. Woeppel had a picnic supper at Riverside park in Neligh Friday evening. They also attended the theater before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kropp and family attended the funeral of Mrs. Kropp’s aunt, which was held on Thursday at Creighton. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Larson re turned from Oakland on Friday where they had spent a few days with Mrs. Larson’s sister, Mrs. Lyle Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dunaway drove to Hastings on Saturday to get their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Robert Dunaway, and children, who will spent the next two weeks visiting them and also her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bill ings, while Mr. Dunaway is at Camp McCoy for a two weeks’ period of training with the na tional guard. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kropp and family visited at the home of her mother, Mrs. Anna Young ifl Inman on Sunday. (Last Week’s News) Mr. and Mrs. Ray Funk and daughters spent Thursday eve ning visiting at the home of Mr and Mrs. Louis Funk and family. Miss Joan Binkerd returned home Monday after spending the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Gibson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Pollock transacted business in Omaha the firt of the week. Paul Gunter was the winner of the bicycle at the Ralph’s Red & White store in Ewing Saturday evening when the label contest came to a close. Joe Miller is home from San Marcos, Tex., on a two weeks’ furlough. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Miller, sr., met him in Sioux City on Thursday, July 24. He is a mechanic in the air force and on his return will be sent to Camp Stoneman, Calif. In the near future he will be sent to the Far East for ac tive duty. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Hufman and daughters on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Huffman of Elgin, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Huffman and family, Mrs. Maud Brion and her sister, Mrs. Mabel Trennepohl, all of Ewing, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hans Peterson transacted busi ness at Grand Island on Tuesday. Tamzan Peterson celebrated her 11th birthday anniversary on Saturday. Tamzan’s grandmother, Mrs. Carston Peterson, and her two aunts, Miss Christine Lorenz son and Mrs. Margaret Avery, all from Neligh, were present. Mr. and Mrs. Nels Jacobsen and their daughter, Mrs. Ernest Nor wood, accompanied by Mr. Jacob sen’s sister, Mrs. Carrie Johnson of Pomona, Calif., spent Tues day at Battle Creek, visiting with relatives. Mrs. Bertha McDonald of Ne ligh was an overnight guest on Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hazel Kimes and sons. Richard Spittler went to Oma ha on Sunday where he was a guest at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Spittler and family. Begin Practice on Tumble Ad — The 212 South Fork 4-H club held a regular meeting at the home of Bonnie Peterson on Fri day, August 1. During the business meeting we decided to have a special meeting at the Roy Backhaus home to work on a club display of rope knots. We had a bird lesson and yard beautification lesson when four demonstrations were given. They were by Lois Strong, Bonnie Peterson and Gary and Gale Hol comb. We will begin practicing our tumbling act for the district share-the-fun festival on August 19. Those taking part in the tum bling act are Bobbie Gartner, Kenneth Backhaus, Marlene Er mer, Keith Halsey, Jennie Hal sey, Gale Holcomb, Gary Hol comb, Jeanene Backhaus and Raymond Strong.—By Gary Hol comb, reporter. G. Roach of Page, to Warren Cronk, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cronk of Page, in a § a.m. rite on Tuesday, July 29. Rev. Peter F. Burke officiated with the double-ring ceremony. The church choir furnished the nuptial music. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was gowned in a baller ina length dress of white nylon net over satin with chantilly lace trim on the skirt hem. This was topped with a bolero of nylon net and chantilly lace. A short illu sion veil fell from a pearl tiara. A lavendar orchid in a nest of Tnums made the bridal bouquet. Miss Marillin Richstatler of Cloverdale, Calif., maid-of-honor, wore a deep rose ballerina length nylon skirt over tafeta with a fit ted velvet bodice and a stole of nylon net. She carried a cluster of white carnations. Bridesmaid, Miss Irene Weingartner, Waukon da, S.D., wore a matching gown in gold nylon. Jhmes Richstatler of Osmond was ringbearer. Best man was Edward Wort man, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. Ushers were Thomas Kelly and Norman Trowbridge of Page, and Gene Braddock of Omaha. Mrs. Roach selected a beige butcher linen dress with a ribbon lace bodice and matching beige and brown accessories for her daughter’s wedding. She wore a red carnation corsage. After the ceremony was a re ception for about 100 guests at the bride’s home in Page. Assist ing with the reception were Mrs. William Huffless, Mrs. Thomas Kelly and Mrs. Norman Trow bridge. Mrs. Cronk chose a light blue butcher linen suit with navy and white accessories for her wedding trip to the Black Hills. She was graduated from Bonesteel, S.D., high school and attended Mt. Marty in Yankton. This past year she taught in the primary room in Page. The bridegroom graduated from Page high school in 1945. Since that time he has been farm ing. The couple will reside on the bridegroom’s farm after their re turn from their wedding trip, which took them to the Black Hills. Out-of-town guests at the re ception included Rev. Peter F. The luncheon was followed by bridge at the Country club. DELOIT NEWS Deloit received over two inch es of rain Saturday night and a fourth of an inch Sunday, but could use some more. Donald Fuller, who is in the air corps, is being sent to Den ver, Colo., for training. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ziska and Sheila left Saturday after a two weeks visit with relatives. They returned to Louisiana where Knneth is stationed, Sunday dinner guests at Sid ney Anderson’s were the Marvin Fuller, Sherman Gumsey, Roy Beeson, Lawrence Fuller, How ard Manson, Ivan Briggs, Henry Reimer and James Weigand fam ilies. The dinner was in honor of Marvin Fuller, Maude Beeson, Mrs. Howard Manson and Mrs. Lawrence Fuller, who recently celebrated their birthday anni versaries. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Temple are in Ft. Collins, Colo., where Howard is attending A&M col lege. They recently visited Mr. and Mrs. Scott Clow at Johns town, Colo. Zoe Ann Huffman visited Elavne Reimer Sunday evening.
