6 o Pjyd County Fair Dates Aug. 25-26-27 Saddle Club, Concerts Are Features LYNCH—The dates for the an nual Boyd county fair, which is held at Spencer, are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, August 25, 26 and 27. Mr. and Mrs. Vince Jehorek were in Johnstown this week looking after their land interests there. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Halva vis ited relatives in O’Neill on Satur day, July 26. Dr. R. E. Kriz returned home Thursday, July 24 from a several days stay in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Havranek and family of Spencer visited at the Joe Halva home Saturday, July 26. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ducker have relatives from Omaha visit ing them this week. They all visited in Verdel Friday. Mrs. Frank Hoffman of Madison and Mr. and Mrs. Andy Nelson of Madison spent the weekend here with relatives. They spent Thurs day and Friday at the Harold Potter home and picnicked at Pickstown, S.D., Friday. On Sat urday Mr. and Mrs. Nelson vis ited with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johns and the Phillip Hammon family, the Nelsons and Mrs. Hoffman came to attend the Norman Hoff man funeral. Miss Rose Bryan, who is in nurses training at Hattresburg, Miss., is here visiting the Lloyd, Albert and Fred Spencer and Wil liam Stouffer families and also other relatives this week. Ed Hofman and Albert Spencer met S/Sgt. Lyle L. Hoffman of Phoenix, Ariz., at Sioux City on Tuesday, July 22, to be here for the funeral of his brother, A/3c Norman D. Hoffman. Mrs. Veldon Lee and Douglas of Sunshine Bottom and Rose Bryan of Hattresburg, Miss., were Tuesday, July 2, visitors at the William Stouffer home. Mrs. Jerry Sixta visited with Mrs. Allan Koscan at Butte Tues day forenoon. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Coleman and son of Spencer spent Sunday, July 20, at the Donavon Angel home northwest of Monowi. Mrs. Lou Jelinek of Seattle, Wash., is here visiting the Louis | Novak home, also old time friends. The Jelineks lived on the farm now occupied by Ed John in the early 1920’s. Club Will Not Enter Float — CHAMBERS—The Betterways extension club met at the home of Mrs. Louanne Hilligas Friday, July 18. The president, Donna Hubbard, called the meeting to order. The secretary read the minutes of the last meeting and took roll call. Members dis cussed achievement day and the mothers vacation camp at Long Pine. They decided not to make a float for Atkinson hay days. Mrs. Donna Hubbard received the door prize. The next meet ing will be on August 15. The hostess served a lunch. Cooper, Beverly Platt and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Marquis left on a vacation trip which took them through the Black Hills of South Dakota and the Big Horn mountains to Thermopolis, Wyo. They returned to Shoshonie, Wyo., on Saturday where they en joyed dinner together before sep arating. The Cliff Marquis’ left for their home at Redmond, Ore. The others returned to Chambers. Mrs. Wendell Pearson and daughter, Beverly, left Saturday for their home at Geneva after a few days visit with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Sex ton. Mrs. Edith McClenahan re turned Monday from Cushman I where she had visited her son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Edwards, for two weeks. Mr. Edwards brought her home. Siders, Krupicka Reelected to Board — The O’Neill Production Credit association held it 18th annual meeting and picnic Sunday, July 27 in Ford’s park, O’Neill. A program of sports events allowed participation by everyone from 7- to 70-years-old. During a brief business session, Ray Siders of O’Neill and Otto Krupicka of Spencer were re elected by the members to serve as directors for an additional three year term. Other board members are D. O'. Shaffer of O’ Neill, president; C. F. Clark of Eurwell and Otto E. Oberg of Ericson. The association finances farm ers and stockmen in Boyd, Holt, Garfield and Wheeler counties. O'NEILL LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grenier and family and Harvey Sawyer and son went to Lyons Sunday and spent the day with Joseph and Oza Grenier.
