Alfred Fer guson, of Decatur (left), Paul Dtftrymple, of Lyons (center), and Willis Newell, of Lyons, were manning this D-8 "cat" about 10 o'clock Sunday night. Waves were lapping at top of dike. A sudden break might have claimed several lives because the 'dozers had dug a spillway behind the dike in moving up mud. Corncrib bing and straw were used with mud. This "homemade" dike held. Ronnie Williams (left) had just been evacuated from his 160 acre bottomland farm near Decatur when The Frontier snapped this photo. Water was two feet deep in his house. Williams had returned from the Veterans hospital to walk into this mess. He is a nephew of Inman's Postmaster James McMahan. Next Sunday evening at 6:30 o’clock we will hold a covered dish supper and recep tion for the new members. All members and friends of the church are invited to attend. New members received are Miss La Veta Lehn, Mr. and Mrs. Law rence Beckenhauer, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shelhamer, Mrs. Sam uel Lee, David and Jonneth Anne Lee, Judge and Mrs. D. R. Mounts, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fox, Lyle and Larry Fox and Janice Sipes. The senior high Westminster fellowship members were guests of the Methodist young people at a sunrise service and breakfast Easter morning. About 50 young people were present. The spiritual life group which has been meeting each Monday is being organized as a part of the work of the Women’s association. The Circles will meet on Thursday, April 17. Circle I meets at 2:30 at the home of Mrs. John Harbottle with Msr. L. C. Walling assisting. Circle II will meet at the home of Mrs. Felix Hendrick with Mrs. R. H. Shriner assisting, and Circle III will meet at 7:45 p.m. at the home of Mrs. J. E. Davis with Mrs. W. D. Melena assisting. The monthly supper and bus iness meeting of the men will be held on Monday evening, 7 o’ | clock. All men Interested in the church are invited. ASSEMBLY OF GOD (O'Neill) Rev. Wayne Hall, pastor “Boast not thyself of tomorrow for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” Proverbs 27-1. The word of the Lord declares that in the last days there shall be perilous times. We are seeing this come to pass in increasing disasters. No one knows where he will be the next day. We must prepare for the life beyond the grave. We welcome all visitors to study the Bible with us in Sunday school at 10 a.m. The worship hour is at 11 a.m. Evangelistic service is at 8 p.m. The boys’ and girls’ story hour is after school Tuesdays. The young people’s meeting is at 8 p.m- Tuesdays. Wednesday at 8 p.m. we meet together for Bible study and prayer service. The ladies will be meeting for prayer at the home of Mrs. John Hall today (Thursday). METHODIST (O'Neill) Rev. V. R. Youth rally for the Methodist Youth fellowship at Neligh, Sun day, 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon the Dorcas quilting circle meets with Mrs. Herbert Kaiser. Mrs. Ed Wayman will be hostess, 2 o’clock. Monday, 8 p.m., the Wesleyan service guild will meet at the home of Mrs. William McIntosh. Wednesday, April 23, 6:30 p.m., Junior fellowship and choir prac tice. COMMUNITY (Stuart) Rev. The men’s council will be host to the Atkinson and Cleveland councils tonight (Thursday), at 8 o’clock. Youth Fellowship group and choir rehearsal was held Monday evening because of school activi ties. ST. Seeker the second Sunday after Easter, April 27, 9 a.m. Pay Fabulous Prices for Quarter Horses CHAMBERS—Vernon Whitak er attended a sale of purebred quarter horses held in Overland, Kans., a suburb of Kansas City, Mo., last week. Thirty - seven head of horses sold averaged $963. The top horse brought $5,000 and went to Cincinnatti, O. Only 10 sold for less than $300 and 13 hit over $1,000 each. They went to all parts of the U.F# except the southwestern states. They are enroute to Andover, Kans., to attend the golden wedding anniversary of his brother and wife. Katheryn Newhouse, student at the state university, Lincoln, and a friend, Eleanor Hanson, of Oakland, spent Easter vacation with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Newhouse. Mrs. Ernest Young was expect ed home Sunday, April 13, from Oberlin, Kans., where she spent a week visiting her brother and sister. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Carpenter were Sunday dinner guests in the E. H.
