WUnier McConnell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eli McConnell, also of Atkinson, have set Tues day, April 15, as the date for their spring wedding. Miss Cearns, a graduate of St. Joseph’s hall, has been employed at the Gamble store for the past year. Private McConnell spent several months on active duty in Korea and since his return to the states has been located at Camp McCoy, Wise. The young couple will be married at St. Joseph’s church in Atkinson. Other Atkinson News Miss Shirley Roth left last week for a vacation trip to Bi loxi, Miss., where she will spend several days visiting friends. The Atkinson extension club held a regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Elven Wmte Wed nesday, March 12. Mrs. Dean Ste vens was co-hostess. The lesson on “Mending” was led by Mrs. Raymer Funk. Next meeting will be with Mrs. Charles Mlinar. CHAMBERS NEWS Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Wintermote entertained to Sunday dinner Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Cook, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wintermote, Bob Wallace and Mary Ellen Gillette. The occasion was the 54th wed ding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wintermote. Bob Wallace arrived Friday for a visit with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wintermote, and uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Cook and Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Wintermote. Bob had been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Howard, at Stock ton, Calif. He has been in the na vy air force for two years and is stationed at Washington, D.C. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hubbard drove to Omaha Sunday on bus iness. They returned Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Catron have purchased the Chambers IGA store. They are busy this week redecorating and preparing to open the store for business Saturday, March 22. Mr. and Mia Dloyd Winter mote visited in the Dave Thorin home at Neligh Sunday. Mr .and Mrs. William Turner spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Cooper, ot Winner, S.D., came Sunday to visit until Tuesday with his sis ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Tibbetts, and sister, Mrs. Genevieve Bell. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Fagan, of Chambers, and Mr. and Mrs. Os car Peterson, of Amelia, were visitors in Norfolk Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Walters and son and Mr. and Mrs. Chet Fees and Cherilyn were in Creighton and Norfolk Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Shorty Steele and family, of O’Neill, visited Mrs. Pauline Masterson and fam ily Sunday. Robertson was ex pected home the forepart of the week from Biloxi, Miss., where she had been attending a na tional meeting of the Garden clubs as a delegate from this dis trict. Rev. L. R. Hansberry drove to Ong Wednesday to bring Mrs. Hansberry home.
