Wayne Miller, 40, Dies trom injuries INMAN — Relatives here re ceived word on isunuay, March 9, of the sudden death of Wayne Miller, 40, of Counpton, Calif. Wayne was a ship yard worker and is thougnt to nave been in- I volved in an accident while at work. He was born here, a son of Mr. j and Mrs. Ed Miller, and is a ■ nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Leon R. | Tompkins. Mrs- Miller died about a year ago. Survivors include: Daughter— Jeanie; mother—Mrs. Ed Miller; 5 brothers. Mr. and Mrs. James McMahan spent the weekend in Norfolk where Mr. McMahan attended a postmasters’ convention. Ralph Sholes, Harlan Morsbach and Don Lines, who are em ployed at Rapid City, S.D., spent the weekend nere with relatives and friends. Miss LuElla Watson, who at tends college at Wayne, spent the weekend visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E- L. Watson. Meriin Luben, who is employed at Leigh, spent the weekend here with his family. Sfc. Cecil Keyes, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Kf^es and Murl left Friday for Ft. Riley, Kans-, where they will spend a few days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Keyes and daughter. Mrs. Ira Watson and daughter, Carolyn, left Friday for Lincoln. Carolyn returned Saturday eve ning and Mrs Watson remained for a longer visit. The Women’s department of the RLDS church, held a bake sale on Saturday afternoon at the locker plant. The group cleared $43.75 for the treasurer. The society voted to meet the sec ond and fourth Thursday, start ing July 1. The Young Adult Fellowship met at the IOOF hall for a regular meeting on Thursday evening, March 6. Mrs. Lew Kopecky gave the devotions. Of ficers for the coming year are as follows: Mrs. Kenneth Braach, leader, Mrs. R. E. Tunender, as sistant leader; Jack Ramold, president; Ned Mulen, vice-presi dent; Ellen Havranek, secretary treasurer; Patricia Mullen, song | leader; Dolores Tunender, news reporter Roll call was answered by nam ing projects which members will be taking for the coming year. We sang several songs and at the close of the meeting Mrs. Havranek served sandwiches, cake, pickles and pop. Steel Creekers Hear Accordian Music— The Steel Creek 4-H club re organized at the home of Dale Revell Friday, March 7, with 8 members joining. Dale Revell was reelected as leader and Mrs. Harvey Krug man, assistant leader. We elected Beverly Linquist as president: Judith Juracek, vice-president, and Eddie Krugman, secretary treasurer. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Barnes and son, Wayne, were guests at Albert Sterns’ Saturday evening and Sunday._ Mr. and Mrs. Bill Claussen spent Saturday evening at the Albert Stems home. Up-and-Al-Il Tries New Roll Cali Plan — The Up-and-At-It 4-H club met Sunday afternoon, March 9, at the John B. Schmitz home. Last year's project books were given out and discussed. Our leader read one of the stories for a contest. This was to help the younger members learn how to write a 4-H stoihr on their 0-10-2 sheets next year. Plans were made for the 4-H family fun night which is next Saturday night. We are going to have one member sing. She is Ma t' Schmitz. We decided to try a new roll call system this year. Each girl choose a subject and she is to keep this roll call all year. For ex ample, one girl took a book she has read, another girl took a mo vie she has seen, another member is to name and describe a bird. The next meeting is March 30 at the Mrs. Georgia Richter resi dence in O’Neill- Hosts of the day will be Mr. and Mrs- Merrit Pierson. One of 55 students who re ceived degrees at the mid semes ter graduation at Creighton uni versity, Omaha, was William J. Froelich, jr-, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Froelich.
