O'Neill Couple Feted
by Descendants—
Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Zakr
zewski were surprised on Sunday
February 3, when their 2 sons
and 3 daughters with their fam
lilies came with well-filled bas
kets to help them celebrate their
37th wedding anniversary.
Dinner, which included 2 roast
turkeys with all the trimmings
and a wedding cake baked by
Mrs. Tom Zakrzewski, was serv
ed at noon.
Those present were: Mr. and
Mrs. Herbert Fox and family, of
Winnebago, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Fox and family, of Or
chard; Mr. and Mrs. William Po
dany and family, of Butte; and
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Zakrzewski
and family and Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Zakrzewski and family, from
north of O’Neill.
Two daughters and their fam
ilies were unable to be present.
They were Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Bowen, of Lincoln, and Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Heck.
Dianne Gillespie
Feted at Affairs —
Mrs. W. B. Gillespie entertain
ed 10 little girls at a birthday an
niversary party Tuesday after
noon at 3 o’clock in honor of her
daughter, Dianne, who was 6
years-old. The afternoon was
spent playing games. Mrs. Gil
lespie served ice cream and a
birthday cake.
Dianne also had a party at
10:30 a.m. that same morning in
the kindergarten room at school.
Cup cakes, pop and candy were
served.
OES Plans Valentine
Party February 14—
Symphony chapter 316, Order
of the Eastern Star, will meet in
regular session Thursday eve
ning, February 14. A Valentine
party will follow.
Mrs. James McMahan, worthy
matron, requests that everyone
bring a simple Valentine for ex
change.
Son Has 3d Birthday—
Mrs. Clyde McKenzie enter
tained at a family dinner on
Wednesday evening in honor of
her son, Douglas, who was cele
brating his 3d birthday anniver
sary. Guests were Mr. and Mrs.
Dean Streeter, Mr. and Mrs.
Clyde Streeter and Mr. and Mrs.
Vincent Streeter and family.
Mrs. Gonderinger Hostess—
The Jeudi club met on Thurs
day, January 31, with a dinner
at the M&M cafe and bridge fol
lowing the dinner at the home of
Mrs. Norman Gonderinger. Mrs.
Melvin Ruzicka and Mrs. Max
Wanser won high.
Bandages Rolled—
The Wesleyan Methodist mis
sionary society met on Tuesday
afternoon at the home of Mrs.
Edna Huebert. Bandages were
made and rolled and will be sent
to foreign fields.
Doernings Triumph—
The Couples club met on Sun
day, February 3, at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Verne Reynoldson.
The bridge winners were Mr. and
Mrs. Amie Doeming.
Bridge Club Meets—
The MM club met Wednesday
at the home of Mrs. Alice
Bridges. Bridge was played. The
hostess served lunch.

40 Guests in Farewell
Dinner for Cronks —
A family gathering was held on
Sunday, February 3, in honor of
Mr. and Mrs. James Cronk and
family who are moving soon to
Idaho. Their 40 guests gathered
at the Cronk home around 12
o’clock noon with well-filled bas
kets and a dinner was served at
1 o’clock.
Guests were: Mr. and Mrs. El
bridge Maynard and family, of
Walnut; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wil
son, Mrs. Gina Cronk and son,
John, and Mr. and Mrs. John
Sorensen, of Page; Mr. and Mrs.
Melvin Lorenz and family, of Nor
folk; Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Butter
field and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Floyd Wilson and son, Mr. and
Mrs. Dale Fetrow and family,
John Pribil and Mr. and Mrs.
James Cronk and family, all of
O’Neill.
The Cronks Saturday sold their
10-rooaft-home, 129 E. Clay street
to Marife Salisbury, who plans to
convert a portion of the residence
into apartments.
New Member
Admitted—
Mrs. Ray Lawrence was hostess
to the Elkhorn extension club
Wednesday evening, January 30.
All members but 3 were present.
One new member, Mrs. Cordes,
was admitted to the club.
Mrs. Elizabeth Howard won
the guessing game. The lesson on
the leaders, Mrs. Robert Kirk and
“Home Finance,” was given by
Mrs. Elizabeth Howard.
Next meeting will be at the
home of Mrs. Florence Schultz
on Tuesday, February 12, with
Mrs. Frank Grenier as assisting
hostess.

Is 9-Years-Old—
Mrs. Claresse Sullivan enter
tained at a birthday anniversary
party on Friday evening, Febru
ary 1, in honor of Nancy Jo Sul
livan, who was 9-years-old. There
were 12 girls and boys present
and the afternoon was spent
playing games with prizes given
to each winner.
A lunch of ice cream and birth
day cake was served by the host
ess. Nancy received many gifts.

Bridge Honors —
The Chez-a-Mari club met on
Monday, February 4, at the home
of Mrs. Dale French after a 7
o’clock dinner at the M & M
Mrs. James Earley was a guest
and also a high score winner at
bridge. Mrs. Dale Kersenbrock
was the other winner.
ONO in. Session—
The ONO club met on Monday,
February 4, at the home of Mrs.
Robert Yantzie. Pitch was played
by the group with Mrs. Earl
Hunt winning high; Mrs. Francis
Hickey, second high; Mrs. Robert
Lowery, low, and Mrs. Robert
Cole, all-cut.
Mrs. Earl Hunt and Mrs. Fritz
Yantzie were guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brady, sr., of
Dorsey, were Saturday dinner

Mrs. C. L. Brady, jr. The dinner
was in honor of Mrs. Lee Brady’s,
sr., and Lee Brady, jr., birthday
anniversaries.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Monroe
and son, Roger, were Sunday din
ner guests at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Beilin.
W. J. Froelich spent the week
end in O’Neill with his family.
He left for Chicago, 111., on Sun
day accompanied by Mrs. Froe
lich.
Friends of St. Mary's will spon
sor a square dance and box social
in St. Mary's gym on Thursday,
February 14, at 7:30 o'clock.

Rev. L. L. Gowan, of Hill City,
S.D., spent 2 nights last week at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Cole.
Miss Wilma Kloepper returned
Monday after spending 2 weeks
with Mr. and Mrs. Holga Fal
lesen at Brunswick.
Mrs. Roy Cole spent a few days
last week in Glenwood, la., at
the home of Rev. Walter Cole.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Lorenz, of
Norfolk will move to Intnan on
Saturday, February 9.
Freeman Knight left Wednes
day for Newton, la., on a 3-day
business trip.
Mr. and Mrs. John Davidson
departed Saturday for an extend
ed visit in Arizona. They are
presently located at Tucson.
Clarence Farr and his sister,
Mrs. Eva Weldon, of Oregon Ci
ty, Ore., were supper guests Sun
day at the Dave Beck home in
Atkinson. Mrs. Weldon visited at
the Herman Schrader home in
Atkinson Monday and Tuesday
and at the Billy Farr home there
Wednesday and Thursday. She
left for. her home in Oregon Mon
day. She had been called here by
the death of Mrs. Clarence Farr.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Suiter and
Mrs. Juanita Closson, of O’Neill,
visited in Fremont on Sunday,
February 3, at the home of Mrs.
Closson’s brother.
Mr. and Mrs, Arnold Gehring
visited over the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Lange and
family at Atkinson.

Jerry Weaver, of Ainsworth,
has accepted a position with Cen
tral Finance corporation here, re
placing Thomas D. Anderson. Mr.
Weaver has been an automobile
salesman for 4 years. He will
hove his family here when he can
arrange housing.
