METHODIST (O'Neill) Rev. V. R. Bell, pastor Church school, 10 a.m., classes for all ages. Worship service, 11 a.m., ser mon, special music by the choir. Senior MYF group, 7:30 p.m. Next Sunday afternoon the high school group will go to Ew ing for the sub-district rally. The WSCS study group met on Monday afternoon with Mrs. Har old Lindberg. The junior choir and fellowship meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. Mrs. Roy Johnson and Mrs. Clay John son. jr.,'are the sponsors. The senior choir will practice Thursday evening. The Dorcas circle will meet Fri day afternoon with Mrs. V. R. Bell. Mrs. Louis Reimer will be assisting hostess. On Sunday, January 27, we will have a congregational dinner right after church for all the members and friends of the church. Plan now to attend. Birthdays will be celebrated and a fine program is being planned. The Young Adult Fellowship will meet Tuesday, January 22, for a meeting and party. This is an enjoyable time for the boys and girls. The CA (young people’s) service is Tuesday, 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, ladies prayer meeting at 2 p.m., also the regular Bible study and prayer meeting of the church at 8 p.m. We plan to have a Christian workers’ course the first part of February. Friday, January 11, dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Burl Munsell were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Manson and Mr. and Mrs. Ike Van Every and sons, honoring Mr. MunselFs birthday anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. John Stuifbergen were in Omaha from Sunday, January 13, until Wednesday, at tending a beverage industry con vention. Mrs. Winnie Barger and Mrs. Bart Brennan went to Omaha on Saturday to attend market week. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fetrow and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Fetrow went to Clarinda, la., on Saturday, January 12, to attend the funeral of Mrs. Fred Fetrow’s sister. Dale Fetrow went to Sioux Ci ty on business Monday. Dr. W. F. Finley returned from Milnor, N.D., on Friday, January 11, where he had gone to attend the funeral rites for his brother in-law, Hugh Francis. Miss Genevieve Biglin, R.N., who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. F. N. Cronin, left for Sioux Falls, S.D., on Monday. New officers were elected as follows: President — Mrs. Noma Hall; vice-president — Mrs. Jack Strode; secretary - treasurer — Mrs. Leonard Roberts. Instead of having a Christmas gift exchange among the mem bers they donated to a fund for gifts for local shut-ins. Six shut ins received gifts from the club. Coast Guardsman Leslie Sweet returned to his station Friday, January 11, after spending his leave with his mother, Mrs. Elsie Sweet and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kaup and family were Sunday, January 13, dinner guests at the Martin Miksch home. A party honoring Martin Miksch, jr., Mrs. Ed Krysl and Edmund Kaup was held at the Frank Greger home on Tuesday night, January 8. Martin Miksch, jr., will be inducted into the army today (Thursday). Mrs. Krysl and Edmund Kaup were celebrating their birthday anniversaries. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. John Miksch and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Krysl, Kenneth and Mel vin, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kaup. jr., and family and Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Hamilton, Alvin and Neal. The evening was spent playing cards. Christian Mothers Take Positions ST. JOHN’S — The officers elected at the Christmas party took up their duties when the Christian Mothers held a quar terly meeting at St. John’s base ment on Friday evening. Mrs. Clarence Funk is presi dent; Mrs. Ralph Tomjack, secre tary, and Mrs. Leo Mlnarik, treas urer. Due to illnesses and icy roads only 25 ladies were present. The message of the president of the National Council of Catholic Women was read by Mrs. Cletus Muff. Plans for raising funds were discussed and a card party open to the public will be held before the beginning of Lent. The group also decided to continue making layettes to be sent to wartorn countries. After the discussion of other business, Rev. C. J. Kaup gave a short talk and answered ques tions placed in the question box. He also led the opening and clos ing prayers. During the social hour a lunch of cake and coffee was served. Mr. Van Ostrand will follow as soon as his farm interests can be dis posed. Mrs. Agatha Heeb, 87, (above), widow of the late Francis Jo seph Heeb, died Wednesday, January 9, at the O’Neill hos pital. Funeral rites were held at Church of Epiphany, Emmet, and burial was in St. Joseph’s cemetery, Atkinson. The late Mrs. Heeb was bom in Liech tenstein, near the Austrian Swiss border, and came t o America in 1890. In 1891 she married. The Heebs resided on their place 2 miles east and 6 miles north of Emmet for many years. Survivors include: Sons—Harry, Albert and Emil, all of Atkinson; daughters— Miss Rose, Miss Mae and Mrs. Lizzie Ryan, all of Atkinson. Dickson, of this city, is one of the few radio lis teners who has been able to tune in the Catalina Islands. . . Forty nine sacks of potatoes containing 100 pounds each were stolen from a car of potatoes off the Burling ton track. . . Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Tottenhoff, of Ainsworth, arrived in O’Neill and became the man agers of the O’Neill station for Omaha Cold Storage Co. 10 Years Ago Mrs. Anna McCartney and Mrs. J. H. McPharlin and a well-known O’Neill resi dent, boarded a chartered plane at Municipal airport here and headed for Denver, Colo. Riverside Four-H Club Meets — Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boyle and girls entertained the Riverside club and friends at 12 tables of pitch on Sunday evening, January High scores were won by Brid get Boyle and George Ramold and low by Mary Ellen Boyle and Gene Schneider. Lunch was erved at midnight by Mrs. Boyle. The year book committee met Sunday afternoon at John Vitt’s to make a schedule of meetings for this year.
