Flood and family and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hansen spent Christmas at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Wolfe and family in Norfolk. Margaret Kramer, of O Neill, is spending her Christmas vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kramer. Mary Murphy, of Moorcroft, Wyo., arrived Saturday and will spend the holidays at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Murphy. Cpl Lavern Miller is spending the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miller and other rela tives. Delores Miksch, of York, is spending a week’s Christmas va cation with her parents, Mr. and MPs. John Miksch. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Barnes and children attended a family Christmas party for the brothers, sisteits, nieces and nephews of the family at the Ray Cearns home. Mr and Mrs. Robert Greenfield and children spent Sunday at the home of Mrs. Abbie Coker in 10’NeilL § o' o o o O CO o o Pfc. Bergstrom Sails for Far East EWING—Word has been re ceived from Pfc. Charles Berg strom stating that he has left the U. S. on the ship, The Walker, on December 13 for duty in the Far East. Private Bergstrom was home recently from Camp Carson, Colo., on a furlough which he spent at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Bergstrom, in Ewing. Kis training for a part of the 9 months at Carson was in the armored division. On December 4, Private Berg strom was transferred to Camp Stoneman, Calif. It was from there he was sent overseas. Other Ewing News Marcus Pierson left Friday for Torrington, Wyo., where he will spend the holiday vacation0 visit ing relatives. He accompanied Mr. and Mrs, Louis Ewing as far as Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Boies and their niece, Catherine Bauer, went to Plainview Sunday to spend the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Boies. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Shain were hosts Tuesday, December 18, to Clearwater Pinochle club. After the games a social hour was en joyed with refreshments and an exchange of Christmas gifts. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Marquardt and Mr. and Mrs. Gail Boies spent Sunday, December 16, visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Marquardt and family at Laurel. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Boies enter tained Mrs. Rose Bauer and chil dren at dinner on Christmas day. Several Ewing folks received greetings from Mr. and Mrs. Har vey Blake. Mr. Blake, who is in the navy, has been stationed in Hawaiian Islands for several months. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Ruby en tertained at a family party on Christmas day. Guests were their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Beelart, and family, of Page; their son, Gene Ruby, and family, of Philipp, S.D.; Mrs. Anna Newton, of Atkinson; Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam Spence and Lyle, Hazel Ruby and Elsie Chase, all of Ewing. Mr. and Mrs. William Spence and Lyle were guests on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur Whitlow at Oakdale. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bergstrom and daughter, Kay, entertained at a family party Christmas eve. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Tur ner, and Mrs. Bergstrom’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hoffman, and sons, of Ne ligh. Gifts were exchanged. Lunch was served by Mrs. Berg strom. Rev. Harold Lobaugh, <xf To peka, Kans., who had planned to conduct worship service at the Presbyterian church Sunday, was unable to be present due to weather and road conditions. The basket dinner was held by the congregation as planned. The Christmas program, which was planned for the evening, was pre sented in the afternoon because of road conditions. It was in charge of the boys and girls of the Sunday school. The Ewing Methodist church held its annual Christmas pro gram Sunday beginning at 10:30 aim. A very good program was presented by the primary depart ment in charge of Supt. Vera An son. The Christmas tree, given to the Sunday school by Kermit Jefferies, of the K-B market, was set up by the Live Wire class of teenage boys taught by Mrs. Har old Harris and decorated by the class of teenage girls, taught by Mrs. William Spence. On conclu sion of the exercises, Sifts were exchanged and treats were given Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Nini, of Oklahoma City, Okla., arrived on Saturday to visit at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sturbaum, and her sister, Mrs. Allan Pollock, and family, during the holidays. Orval Pollock, of San Jose, Calif., arrived in Ewing Saturday to spend the holiday season with relatives and friends. Claus Seivers, of Gillette, Wyo., visited Sunday and Monday with relatives in Ewing and vicinity. Ray Boise and Jack Pruden drove to Grand Island Monday, where they met Sgt. James D. Boise, of Camp Carson, Colo., who spent Christmas with homefolks in Ewing. Classes Curtailed by Road Conditions CELIA—Because of storm and road conditions classes at the Hendricks rural school were con ducted only 1 day last week — Monday, December 17. The Celia school convened on 3 days. Other Celia News Mrs. D. F. Scott attended the Shakespeare club’s Christmas party at the home of Mrs. George Frohardt Friday afternoon, De cember 21.
