2 Cars Collide
at Chambers—
CHAMBERS — A car accident
occurred Tuesday, November 27,
in the west part of Chambers.
Dean Elkins, driving west, start
ed to make a left turn and col
lided with an eastbound car driv
en by Harold Young. Both cars
were damaged.
Elkins was accompanied by his
sister, who received minor cuts.

Ewing Civic Group
Will Receive Santa
EWING—The Commercial club
met at the Legion club Tuesday
evening, November 27. The presi
dent, Gail Boies, presided at the
business session.
It was decided to have the
Christmas treats for the children
of Ewing and vicinity, including
a visit from Santa Claus, who
will be on hand to help pass out
the packages. Sis Ebbensgaard
will provide a tree for the town
square and the following mem
bers will decorate and put up the
tree: R. H. ShainPRoy Rotherham,
Jerry Tomjack, Ernie Norwood,
Clifford Hahlbeck, Arthur San
ders, Bob Hamilton and N. A.
Bergstrom.
Curley’s Store was selected to
order the supplies with Mrs. Er
nie Norwood as chairman of the
sacking committee.
Mrs. Frances Shaw, member
ship chairman, reported 40 paid
up memberships to date.

Rev. and Mrs. John A. Graham
and Sandra, returned Tuesday
evening from Sterling, Kans.,
where they had visited at the
home of his mother, Mrs. Susan
Graham. Miss Sally Christon and
Miss Beverly Montgomery, accom
panied by 2 college chums, Wil
ma Nolte of Stafford, Kans., and
Gerry Andrus, an San Trico,
Calif., went, with the Grahams to
resume their studies at the Ster
ling college after spending the
holiday vacation with homefolks
in the Ewing vicinity.
Mrs. Leland Welke entertained
the YM Pinochle club at her
home Tuesday evening, Novem
ber 27, with Mrs. Ray Funk the
assisting hostess. Guests were
Mrs. John Walker, Mrs. Lyle
Dierks and Mrs. Richard Edwards.
Score winners were Mrs. Kermit
Jefferies, Mrs. Gail Boies and
Mrs. Arthur Funk. A social hour
and refreshments were enjoyed
after the games. Names were
drawn for the exchange of gifts
at the next regular meeting

ty
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Merchant,
of Elgin, were guests at the hopie
of Mrs. Martha Hill for 6 o’clock
dinner Sunday.
Sgt. and Mrs. William Price ar
rived Thursday from Kentucky
where they had been guests at
the home of his parents to spend
a part of his furlough at the home
of her mother, Mrs. Martha Hill.
They left Sunday afternoon for
Roy, Utah, where Sergeant Price
is stationed. He will leave Thurs
day for California and from there
will go to the Far East on duty.
Mrs. Algene Krieter, a sister of
Mrs. Price, accompanied them.
The ladies both have employment
at Roy, Utah, and will make their
home there while their husbands
are stationed in foreign lands. Mr.
Krieter is in the navy and is at
present in Korean waters.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Cloyd and
family spent the weekend visit
ing relatives in Meadow Grove
and Norfolk. °
Word has been received from
David Cloyd of the navy, that he
expected to sail for the United
Slates on November 22. He re
cently met Algene Krieter in Ja
pan, also in the U S. Navy.
Chas. Bergstrom of Camp Car
son, Colo., has been a guest at the
home of this parents, Mr. and Q&rs.
N. A. Bergstrom, for a few days.
He left Tuesday for Caimp Stone
man, Calif., where he will be sta
tioned in the future.

had as their guests on Thanks
giving day Mrs. Sarah Bonge,
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Heater, of
Plainview, Mr. and Mrs. George
Bonge, of Orchard, and Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Delmar, of Page.
Mr. and Mrs. Dewain Bendon

Thursday where they will make
their home. Mrs. Bendon and
children have been guests at the
home of his parents, "Mr. and Mrs.
Mrs. R. B. Krachie, for several
weeks.
A cotton and denim party was
held at the recreation room of the
United Free Presbyterian church
Friday evening. It was a family
occasion, about 70 were present.
Mrs. Lee Fink entertained the

charge of Mrs. Dale Napier, Mrs.
Wilbur Spangler and Mrs. Leo
Miller. Admission was charged,
according to the height of the in
dividual. Rrefreshments of sand
wiches, pie, doughnuts, coffee
and cocoa were also served at a
small cost. All proceeds to go
for the purchase of a stove for
the kitchen in the new addition.

pier and Mrs. Archie Johnston
made up the lunch committee.

son, Max, left Thursday for Cali
fornia, where they plan to spend
several weeks. o
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Beckman, of
Elgin, were guests at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. John Archer on
Thursday.
The Thursday Bridge club was
entertained at the home of Mrs.
Maud Brion on November 29. Mrs.
John Wunner received the honor
prize. Other score winners were
MrDs. M. B Huffman and Mrs.
Wm. Spence. After the games,
the hostess served a dessert lunch
