Mums were used as a centerpiece. Other Ewing News Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woeppel, of Storm Lake, la., are guests at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Woeppel. Harold will leave on November 15 to begin service in the army. Mr. and Mrs. John Archer, Mrs. Arthur Spittler and Mrs. E. Hintz were O’Neill visitors on Thurs day. Mr. and Mrs. John Wunner and Grace Briggs returned home on Tuesday, November 6, from a trip to Illinois. The Wunners visited their son, Roger, and family in Chicago, 111., and Mrs. Briggs, a daughter and family at Oswego. The Sanders post, American Legion auxiliary unit 214, gath ered at the club on Thursday evening. The membership com mittee has been busy and sever al dues for 1952 were paid.. The Christmas assignment of gifts for 10- to 18-year-old girls was received. Besides these, members donated girfts valued at one dol lar to be sent to the Veterans j hospital at Lincoln. For the De- j cember meeting the Legion and auxiliary will have a covered dish and Christmas party with an exchange of gifts. Refresh ments were served by Mrs. Alvin Gibson and Mrs. Lyle Dierks. Movies were shown by the Le gion for entertainment. Mr. and Mrs. Orle Shaffer and son, Richard, and Mrs. H. C. Schaffer, of Castana, la., were weekend guest sat the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Muff, Bon ita and Carolyn, and Cathy and Linda Gildersleeve, of O’Neill, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs George Jefferies on Sun day. YN3 Merle Angus, of Corpus Christi, Tex., arrived in Ewing Sunday to spend his furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Angus, and brother, Max. Roger Bennett has purchased the Loyd Angus service station. He took possession on Tuesday, : November 6. Mr. and Mrs. Angus and son, Max, plan to go to Cal ifornia in the near future. Each year, Mrs. Dill, Mrs. Crellin and Mrs. Liddle, who took nurse’s training together years ago, meet for a school day reunion. a Mr. and Mrs. Sis Ebbengaard were 6 o’clock dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stevens at Clearwater Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Edwards, from Iowa, are moving into the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Snider. Mr. Edwards will be employed in the Farmers State bank. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kropp and family entertained at a fam ily dinner on Sunday. Their guests were her mother, Mrs. An na Young, and Mrs. Myrtle Young, both of Inman; Mrs. Sa die Jeffers, of Afkinson, and Mr. and Mrs. Max Jeffers and family, of Chambers. The Altar society, of St. Peter’s Catholic church, met Tuesday evening, November 6, at the L». gion club. The president, Mrs. Arthur Kropp, presided at the business meeting. The bazaar to be held this month was the main topic for discussion. This was followed by games for entertain ment. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Martin VanConet, Mrs. Arthur Spittler, Mrs. John Van dersnick and Mrs. A. Woslager. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fleming, accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Dora Townsend, attended the 55th wedding anniversary party of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Kel ley at Inman on Sunday. Mrs. Blanche Sisson and Miss Vina Woods were also present. Donald Vandersnick is now stationed in Yokohama, Japan, with an army hospital unit. He left San Francisco, Calif., on Sep-r tember 19. Donald is the son or Mr. and Mrs. Leo Vandersnick. He graduated in the class or!945 from the Ewing high school. Dur ing World War II he served In the armed forces for about one year. After being discharged, he engaged in farming. Mr. and Mrs. Dom McDermott visited Mrs. McDermott’s father, Clyde Johnson, on Friday. Fat cattle trade was largely steady early this week at the terminals.
