Former Argentina Missionary Coming On Sunday, August 9, Chiist Lutheran congregation of O’Neill will observe the-annual mission festival. “Mission festival Sunday is proof that Christians take seri ously the command of the Lord Jesus Christ to preach the Gos pel to every creature," according to Rev. R. W. Olson, church pas tor. “On that day they consider prayerfully the reasons why we are to be engaged in missionary activity and the part they are privileged to play in it,” he con tinued. The congregation of the church will conduct 2 services at the O’Neill high school aduitorium. The first service will be at 10:30 in the morning with Reverend Olson, church pastor as speaker. The afternoon service will begin at 2:30 with Rev. Carl Wolf, for mer missionary to Argentina, now of Venus, as speaker. Reverend Wolf served as mis sionary in Argentina for almost 11 years, serving the Lutheran congregations and mission places in the Pampas province. Cordova and the Chacos. This work was strictly among the natives of those regions. For the past 20 years he has held pastorates at Chadron, there serving 3 mission places covering a large territory. He came to Venus 5 months ago. Reverend Wolf will base his mis sion sermon on John 1:45-49 with his theme and parts as follows: “Philip Findeth Nathanael.” I.) He invites him to “come and see.” II) He came and saw. Special musical numbers will be rendered by the junior choir of St. Paul’s Lutheran churcn. Chambers. Dinner will also be served at the school between the services. Friends and visitors are cor dially invited to attend one or both of these services and also tcf partake of the noon meal. Rev erend Olson explained. Happy Hollow Club Notes Achievements EWING — Happy Hollow 4-H club held its achievement day at the Taylor farm Saturday, August 25. The younger girls exhibited their sewing which included pot holders, shoulder covers and laundry bags. They also modeled the aprons they had made in the style show. The older girls mod eled their dresses, skirts, jumpers and sun dresses. The members of the Dairy club practiced groom ing their calves, later they prac ticed showmanship. Following the exhibits, some group singing of 4-H songs and other old favor ites was the pastime. The club members then enjoyed luncheon before adjourning. Other Ewing News Guests at the home of fMr. and Mrs. Roy Rotherham on Sunday, August 26, were: Mr. and Mrs. Pat Rotherham, of Eureka, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs Harold Gragert and family, of Petersburg; (Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Rotherham and sons of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Woods and daughters, of Page; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Rotherham and family, of St. Edward; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Noffke, jr., and family, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bar tak and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Ar nold Gragert and family, all of Ewing, and James Rotherham, of Grand Island. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Rothedham left Monday, August 27, for their home at Eureka, Calif., after spending 3 weeks at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rother ham, and other relatives. Miss Bernadine Rotherham re turned home Friday, August 24, from Grand Island where she had been a guest of her brother, James Rotherham. The Birthday club met at the home of Miss Minnie Neideheider at Clearwater on Monday after non, August 27, the occasion be ing Mrs. Harriet Welke’s birth day anniversary. Those attending were Mrs. Harriet Welke, Mrs. Hans Peterson, Mrs. Nels Jacob sen, Mrs. William Wulf, Mrs. George Jeffries, Mrs. Alfonso Beelart, sr., all from Ewing; Mrs. F. C. Huston and Mrs. E. J. Sny der, of Glasgow, Mont., and Mrs. Verge Cratty, of Clearwater. The honored guest was presented sev eral gifts. The hostess served lunch. Miss Sandy Gragert spent a week recently a t Petersburg I where she was a guest at the home of her grandparents, Mr. \ and Mrs Fred Gragert. On Sun- 1 day, August 26, her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gragert. of Ew ing, went to Petersburg to spend the day and Sandy returned; home with them. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Snider i and family left Friday. August 24. on a vacation trip to Los An geles, Calif., where they will visit his mother. Mrs. Etta Snider, and other relatives. Maurice Archer and son. Scott, were overnight guests at the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Archer, on Saturday, Au gust 25. Military Rites for Troy E. Karr — ATKINSON — Military funeral rites were conducted Thursday, August 30, at the Methodist church in Atkinson for Troy Ed ward Karr, 46, who died Monday August 27, at the Stuart hospital. The late Mr. Karr served in World War II for 5 years, most of that time in the European theater. He was born at Blue Hill in 1905, attended country school in the Atkinson vicinity, and attended Atkinson high school. He was married to Mary Ruth Stege. Survivors include: the widow; 2 stepsons—Dean Kreger, of Cal ifornia, and Lee Kreger, of Bas sett; sisters—Mrs. Lou Kirkland, Mrs. John Wondercheck and Mrs. Fred Neibauer, all of Atkinson; Mrs. George Weller, of Stuart; Mrs. John Rossman, of Madison, Wise.; brothers—Marvin, Lynch, and Eugene, all of Atkinson.
