She fell at her home early Sun day morning while attempting to remove a rug from a slippery doorstep. Mrs. Parker, "known as Luella Parker, is a former Holt county superintendent of public instruction. . . . Mr. and Mrs. James Curran and Ardelle, and Mrs. Dale Curran and Judy Kay went to Sioux City Sunday to vis it Dale Curran, who has been a patient at St. Vincent’s hospital. His condition was described as “not very good.” Mrs. Curran is spending the week in Sioux City. . . . Mrs. Ruth Morgan, who is re cuperating at the home of her daughter in Omaha, has been ad vised by her doctor that she will not be able to return home as soon as expected. She must re main there at least 3 weeks more. ... Mrs. Arnie Mace, sr., a pa tient at the Lutheran hospital in Norfolk, is “good.” . . . Mrs. Ma ry MacLeod had minor surgery recently in Omaha and “is on the mend.” . . . “Shorty” Coker sub mitted to surgery Tuesday in the Methodist hospital at Sioux City. . . . Gordon Harper’s condition at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Norfolk is “satisfactory.” . . . M .bn Schollmeyer, sr., who has not been well, had her first outing in 13 b,! months Sunday when she attended the celebration of the 55th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Tomlinson at the city park. . . . Mrs. Susan Ku biteheck entered St. Vincent’s hospital in Sioux City on Mon day. Mrs. Melvin Carson returned home Thursday, August 2, from the O’Neill hospital, where she had been a patient for several days. Mr. Carson’s aunt, Mrs. Carrie Hunter, of Redbird, is helping in the home. . . . Mrs. Richard Ileiss was quite badly sicalded last Thursday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Zellar?r when her clothing caught on a kettle of hot water on the stove and it was spilled on her back. Mrs. Fred Karo, sr., is in the Stuart Community hospital and is “seriously ill.” LYNCH—Daniel Chambers es caped serious injury Monday when a heavy timber he was un loading fell on him. He was un able to do imuich moving around this week, but X-rays showed no broken bones. . . Keith Stewart is carrying his arm in a sling be cause of an injured muscle which gives him a great deal of discom fort, His brother, Dean, assisted at McMeen’s store for him Satur day evening. AMELIA — Alfred Sammons’ condition at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Norfolk is “improved.” . . . Mrs. Stella Sparks went to Omaha Monday where she will receive treatment for asthma. Mrs. George Fullerton and son, Dale, accompanied her and Dale will also receive treatment for asthma. . . Lee Sammons has been suffering with a sinus in fection back of the eye. CHAMBERS — Mrs. Wayne Smith underwent a major opera tion at the Tilden hospital Thurs day. August 2. . Joe Daas re turned Tuesday from Our Lady of Lourdes hospital at Norfolk. . . Mrs. Merlin Grossnicklaus and daughter, Lynn Kay, came home from the Orchard hospital Mon day evening, July 30. EMMET—Mr. and Mrs Lloyd D. Johnson and Mrs. Russell Yus ten, of O’Neill, went to Norfolk Saturday to visit Mrs. William Grothe, jr., of Emmet, who was a patient at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital. Mrs. Grothe was able to go home Monday. CELIA—Karen Focken, little 6 year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Focken, fell off a horse Saturday evening, August 4, and broke her right arm. She was a bout a mile from home when the accident occurred. STUART—Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Olberding took their baby daughter, Leah Marie, who has been sick, to Omaha on Saturday, August 4, to consult a specialist. The baby is “improving.” EWING—Mrs. John Wunner is convalescing at her home alter undergoing minor surgery at the Lutheran hospital in Norfolk last Thursday.
