2 p.m., for Mrs. Merle Rirhards,
64, who died Thursday, May 24,
at her home following a short
illness.
The rites were held at the
Methodist church with Rev. B. G.
“Hughes officiating. Burial was
in Woodlawn cemetery.

Midget Club Is
'Progressing Fine'—
The American Legion midget
baseball club is “coming along in
fine shape,” according to George
Head, manager.
Practice sessions are being held
each Monday, Wednesday and
Friday at 6:15 p.m. at the north
ball park.
The club needs more ball play
ers as several positions are still
open. Head said. Any boy who
will not reach his 16th birthday
in 1951 is eligible to join.

Harris at the University hospital
in Omaha, where she is undergo
ing treatment for arthritis. . .
Mrs. Ray Crellin went to Grand
Island on Friday by bus to spend
some time with Mr. Crellin at the
Veterans hospital. Word was re
ceived later that Mr. Crellin had
undergone surgery the same day
and was doing as "well as could
be expected."

operation at the O'Neill hospital
on Thursday evening. . . Mr. and

turned home from Omaha Satur
day where Dennis had his tonsils
removed at an Omaha hospital
on Wednesday, May 23. . . Mrs.
Byron McCoughey is a patient at
the Bassett hospital, where she

NORTH OF STUART--Mr. and
Mrs. Herbert Sweet and family
visited Mrs. Sweet’s brother-in
law, Warren McClurg, at the
Bassett hospital. Mr. McClurg
underwent surgery on May 18 at
the hospital and was very ill for
several days but is “much im
proved” and expects to go home
in a day or two.

view where they had a sack
lunch picnic at noon. In the aft
ernoon they enjoyed roller skat
ing.
Mrs. Harry Thomsen took her
little folks to the park in
O’Neill, where fhe children en
joyed the swings, teeter-totters
and slides. They also enjoyed a
sack lunch dinner.

Farmer Injured
In Tractor Upset—
Paul Woidnesk, who lives
about 1 imile west of Midway,
escaped with cuts and bruises
when his tractor upset and roll
ed over a 30-foot embankment
on his farm about 7:30 Monday
evening.
Dr. J. P. Browm, who was
called to the Woidneck home
after the accident, described his
injuries as “painful, but not ser
ious.”
