EWING NEWS Mr. and Mrs. John Vandersnick and daughter, Patricia, and Neva Tucker, spent Sunday at Atkin son and Butte. Mrs. D. W. Gemmill returned to her home in Ewing on Thurs * day. She has been with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Minshall, at Lander, Wyo., since in December. IMr. and Mrs. George Thayer were weekend guests at the home of Mrs. William Boies. Sherry, Patty, Billy and Jeanie Hobbs, children of Mr. and Mrs. f William Hobbs, are spending the week visiting at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Shiffbauer, at Madison. Rev. and Mrs. John Graham and Sandra were 6 o’clock dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Johnson on Tuesday evening, May 22. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Marquardt returned home from Laurel on Thursday, where they had been guests at the home of their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Marquardt, and family. They also attended the commencement ex ercises at the Laurel high school. Their granddaughter, Joan Mar quardt, was one of the 26 grad uates. They also reported that Mr. and Mrs. Victor Marquardt and Joan, with a company of friends, are spending this week fishing in Wisconsin. The Women’s Society of Chris * tian Service, of the Ewing Meth odist church, will hold a regular meeting at the church parlors on Wednesday, June 6. There will be a no-host luncheon. Supt. and Mrs. Rodney K. Whittemore and children moved on Friday to their former home a t Elmwood. Superintendent Whittemore has gone into the in surance business. Mrs. Edith Black and grand daughter, Jerrel Dean Black, left Wednesday, May 23, for Renton, Wash., where they will spend the summer. They will be guests at the home of Mrs. Black’s son, Jerald Black, and family. Mrs. Mary Lou Streeter and children, of O’Neill, returned home Sunday after spending a few days visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs. Mary Rother ham. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Larson spent the weekend at Verdel, where they were guests at the home of relatives. The YM pinochle club was en tertained Tuesday evening, May 22, at the home of Mrs. Kermit Jefferies with Mrs. Ray Angus as cohostess. Score winners for the evening were: Mrs. Arthur Kropp, Mrs. Rose Bauer and Mrs. Ray Funk. Refreshments and a social hour brought the evening to a close. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Boies and nieces, Catherine and Mary Ann Bauer, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bohn on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Boies and Mrs. Ross Bauer attended the par ty at St. John’s church on Sun day evening. Mrs. Elmer Bergstrom and daughter, Kay, and Miss Ina Ben nett were shopping in O’Neill on Tuesday, May 22. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Pierson and family, of Torrington, Wyo., arrived F*riday to visit at the homes of his brothers, Ernest and Earl Pierson, until after Decoration day. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pierson and family, of Yakima, Wash., left Wednesday, May 23, for their home after visiting at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pieiison and Mr. and (Mrs. Earl Pierson and family the past week. , __ . , Mr. and Mrs. Minor Varelek and family moved to Stuart on Wednesday, May 23. Mrs. Elaine Turner and Mrs. Delores Mace acted the parts of the bride and bride groom in portraying activities in their new home. D., Friday, where she has accepted a posi tion with the Equitable Life In surance farm loan office in that city. Miss Noreen O’Neill and Miss Wauneta Anspach went to Gree ]y Sunday to attend the high school graduation of Miss O’Neill’s younger sister. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Arrasmith and son spent the weekend of May 19 in Ainsworth. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Man ners spent the weekend in Ed mond, Kans. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Anderson were in Lincoln Sunday on business. Charles E. Yarnall returned Saturday from a week’s business trip in Omaha. Plan Gifts for Children’s Hospital CHAMBERS — The Valley Center extension club met Fri day afternoon, May 25, at the home of Mrs. Paul Roth. Fifteen members and 1 visi tor were present. The president, Mrs. Ray Beed, called the meet ing to order. Program planning sheets were filled out. A discussion of where and when club members would have their blood typed was car ried on but no definite time was set. The president mentioned the county club picnic to be held at Page on June 5. Several mem bers plan to attend. Some also plan to attend mother’s camp at Long Pine June 12, 13 and 14. Plans for sending either money or gifts to the Children’s hos pital in Omaha were discussed. Mrs. H. C. Walter presented the lesson on “Newcomers to Your Garden.” Lunch was served by the hostess. Brownies Meet— Brownie Troop II met at the public school Friday, May 18. We made grass skirts for our costumes which we will wear at our cookout. Each girl who was present chose her camp duty for that day.—Elizabeth Fritton, re porter. Final Meeting Until Fall— Chez-a-Mari club held a picnic for members and their husbands at the Country club Monday eve ning.
