VENTEiCHER—Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Venteicher, of St. John, a daughter, weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces, born Friday, April 20, at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Norfolk. Angeline Kalloff, of Elgin, is caring for Mary and Jerry Venteicher. The mother is the former Margaret Sauser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clar ence J. Sauser, of O’Neill. EDSON—Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Edson, of Burlington, Wash., twin sons. Mrs. Edson is the former iHope Kellogg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kellogg, former Amelia residents. The Edsops have 2 other sons. MOODY—Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Moody, of Lynch, a son, born Wednesday, April 18, at the Sa cred Heart hospital (Lynch). Mr. and Mrs. C. A. NEAL—Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Neal, of Minneapolis, Minn., a son, weighing 7 Vi pounds, born Monday, April 16. Mrs. Neal is the Jacquelyn Snyder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snyder, of Atkinson. TIMMERMAN—Mr. and Mrs. Ray Timmerman, of O’Neill, a son, Albert Joseph, weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces, bom Sunday, April 22, at the O’Neill hospital. GROTHE—Mr. and Mrs. Her man Grothe, of Emmet, a son, Duane Arthur, weighing 9 pounds 4 ounces, born Saturday, April 21, at the O’Neill hospital. 45 Register at Youth Meeting EWING—Forty - five young people from nearby Methodist churches registered Sunday at the Ewing Methodist church for a Christian fellowship gathering. Marcus Pierson gave the de votional meditation. Mrs. Charles Chappell led the singing. Jean Welke and Rosetta McDonald registered the group. Supper was served at 6 o’clock. The evening’s program was in charge of subdistrict officers. Next rally in July will be held at Elgin. Other Ewing News Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Billings, of Neligh, spent Sunday visiting at the home of his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Billings. Mrs. Carrie Bernhardt was a weekend guest in Clearwater at the home of her sister and hus band, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kimes. Mrs. E. D. McDonald and son, Douglas; her mother, Mrs. Ray Butler, accompanied by Mrs. Florence Butler and Miss Anna Van Zandt, shopped in O’Neill Tuesday, April 17. Mrs. E. W. McDonald and son, Douglas, left Tuesday for Ver-» million, S. D., where they will visit at the home of her husband's parents, before returning to their home in Ewing, they will go to Hampton, la., where they will be guests at the home of a sister in-law and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Larson. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Hen ry Fleming and her sister, Mr.s Dora Townsend, were guests at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Serr and family and of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Spahn. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Olson were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harris Sunday evening. , , Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Harris, Bet ty and Billy returned home Sun day after spending the weekend in Fremont at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Fink. On Saturday they spent the day in Omaha. Chambers Seniors Present Play— CHAMBERS—The senior class of Chambers high school gave a play Friday night. It was a “hugh success.” The Chambers high school base ball team played the first game .Tuesday, April 24, at Clearwat er. The softball team had its first game there also. The juniors have been working real hard at preparing the junior and senior banquet to be given May 3. TRAFFIC COURT Jimmy Dick Schindler pleaded guilty to a charge of driving a motor car while under the influ ence of intoxicating liquor, fined $10 and costs, and his driver’s li cense suspended for a period of 30 days, April 23, arrested by Al bert Sipes, city marshal. Robert T. Stevens pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless driving, fined $10 and costs, ar resting officer, Patrolman Frank M. Dineen. Spend Weekend at Star— STAR—Claude Cole, son of Charles Cole,was home for the weekend from Wayne State col lege. He sang recently in a con cert. Go to Winner— Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Quinn, jr., and son left Monday for Winner, S. D., to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Martin, for a week. Norfolk Vititors— INMAN—Mr. and Mrs. Gor don Brittell and daughter, Judy, spent Saturday evening and Sun day visiting Mrs. Brittell’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Caster, at Norfolk. They were accompan ied to Norfolk by Mrs. Lottie Thompson, who spent the week end visiting her son and daugh ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Thompson. He was driving a tractor with, an empty underslug. He stopped to open a gate but in some manner the tractor slipped into gear, it lurched. He was ov erbalanced and fell under the front wheels of the underslung, the back wheels barely missing him . . . Charley Peterson return ed home from the Bassett hospi tal on April 16. Mr. Peterson had been a patient at the hospital since March 3, after he had suf fered a severe heart attack. He is “much improved . . . Mrs. By ron McCaughey returned from the Bassett hospital on Friday, where she had been for 10 days. She is “much better” . . . Milo Hupp returned from a Norfcflk hospital on Monday where he had been for a major operation . . . Mrs. Harold Kirkland return ed from an Omaha hospital Sat urday where she had been for treatment and an operation . . . Mr. and Mrs. Victor Faust went to Rapid City, S. D., last week and Mr. Faust entered the St. John’s hospital and was operat i ed on Friday. Mrs. Faust is stay I ing at the home of his sister, i Mrs. C. M. Schlimigen. PAGE — Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorensen, jr., and Mrs. Robert Nissen took Robert Nissen to Sioux City Wednesday, April 18, where he left for Rochester, Minn., where he entered a clin ic for medical observation. . . Mr. and Mrs. Owen Parks, Jane and Ruth went to Norfolk Saturday to bring Miss Byrdie Ann Parks home from Our Lady of Lourdes hospital, where she had been a patient following surgery. . . Miss Mary Halstead returned home Tuesday evening from Our Lady of Lourdes hospital ot Norfolk and is at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Halstead. . . Alvin Hesse was brought home by ambulance from a Sioux City hospital Friday and will be cared for in his home for the present time. . . Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stew art and June, Mrs. Ed Sterner and Leo Neubauer motored to Norfolk Saturday where they vis ited Clarence Stewart, a patient in Our Lady of Lourdes hospital, and with Mrs. Stewart, who is staying in Norfolk. CHAMBERS—Will David re turned to St. Joseph’s Mercy hospital at Sioux City Sunday, April 15, suffering from blood poisoning. Earl and Lyle (“Billy”) , went with him. Earl remained with Mr. David. Lyle returned Tuesday, April 17 . . . Marjean Walter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Walter, was in a Norfolk hospital from Monday, April 10, until Friday. She suffered an at tack of pneumonia. . . Mrs. Sarah Adams has been ill for several days . . . Mrs. R. K. Platt return ed Friday from Lincoln where she had been convalescing at the home of her niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Griffith. Mrs. Griffith was formerly Annabell Snodgrass . . . (Mrs. Richard Smith underwent an operation Friday, April 20, at the Immanuel Lu theran hospital in Omaha. She is reported “doing nicely.” 1 ! O’NEILL — Richard Farrier went to Omaha Tuesday to con sult a doctor . . . Joe Greitens went to Dr. Nickols’ sanitarium in Savannah, Mo., to get Mrs. Greitens who has beerf there about a month. They reurned Tuesday . . . Carlyle Washecheek, who submitted to an operation at Bryon Memorial hospital last week is “doing fine” . . . Miss Florence Ponton is a patient at St. Joseph’s hospital in Omaha . . . Dick Perry returned Mon day after having been a patient in the Veteran’s hospital in Grand Island for two weeks . . . Mrs. Kenneth Hunt returned last Thursday from St. Joseph’s hospital in Sioux City . . . Mrs. Helen Simar is ill this week . . . Pat Hynes drove Mrs. Hynes to Omaha Tuesday for a treatment. CELIA— Jerry, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hendricks, has been having another attack of rheumatic fever and is unable to attend school. . . . Mrs. Ray Pease took her mother, Mrs. William Spann, to Sioux City Saturday morning where Mrs. Spann enter ed St. Joseph’s hospital and un derwent surgery Tuesday morn ing, April 24. . . Markita Hend ricks missed school all week un til Friday, April 20. She had in fluenza and was unable to attend school. . . Perry Terwilliger has had influenza all week. His brother-in-law, Ray Disterhaupt, has been doing his work. . . . Mr, and Mrs. Joe Hendricks and Nina took Jerry to O’Neill Tuesday, April 17, to consult a doctor. STUART—John Coufal was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Norfolk on Monday, April 16, where he underwent surgery . . . Mrs. B. C. Engler returned from Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Nor folk on Saturday, April 21. REDBIRD—Mrs. Fred Truax, sr., has been ill the past week. EWING—James Boies return ed home Wednesday, April 18, from the Veterans hospital at Grand Island. He is “much im proved" . . . Mr. and Mrs. George Adrian took their daughter to Norfolk, April 18, for medical treatment . . . Nila Cary has been confined to her home with flu, being absent from her school duties for several days . . . Je rome Bahm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ves Bahm, returned home Fri day from the Orchard hospital, having undergone an appendec tomy on Monday. EMMET — Bud Newton, who had been a patient at the Vet ans hospital at Grand Island, re turned home Friday.' He is “im proved.” . . Arnold and Lionel Babl have been ill the past week with influenza. . . W. P. Daily ia a patient at St. Joseph’s hospital at Omaha after undergoing an eye operation last week. . . Mrs. Alex McConnell has been “quite ill” the past week with the influ enza. She is “improved.” AMELIA—Miss Janice Prewitt was ill a few days last week with a sore throat and an ear ache. . . Mrs. Vernon Thompson and in fant daughter returned home Wednesday, April 18, from the J O’Neill hospital. DELOIT— Elayne Reimer was ill with a throat infection and influenza several days last week.
