Plainview forced the Chanticleers to play their game and it was this factor that decided the contest. Don Kokrda, Pirate center, did more than his share in assuring the victory, not only being big gun on offense with 17 points, but also by stopping Ord plays time and again. Paul Penas, tow ering Ord center, peppered 20 points in to take the honors for the game. With two minutes to play, and Plainview ahead 47-42, an effec tive stall stopped all Ord chances for victory. With eight sec onds to play, Don Calkins, Eagle guard, drove through for a set up that was missed that would have meant victory for O’Neill. Gary Buckmaster, Eagle forward, was fouled while going after the rebound but he couldn’t connect on a free throw with two seconds to play. A sink would' have put the contest into an extra period. Carl Johnson, Ainsworth cen ter, pushed in 18 points to lead the Bulldog scoring and lofty Ted Lindberg, O’Neill center, hit for 20 points in the defeat. Official Jim Corwell, of Stan ton, had trouble getting the ball game stopped to give Buckmas- j ter the gratis try.
