MRS. WILLIAM O. KELLY . . Miss Elizabeth Marie Fox (a bove) became the bride of Wil liam O. Kelly Saturday, Janu ary 27, at Paramount, Calif. Both are former O’Neill people The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fox; the bridegroom a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Kelly. The newly weds are residing at Norwalk, Calif. Foxes Return Sunday from West Coast— Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fox and Ruby returned Sunday after noon from a four weeks’ vaca tion in California. They visited their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Fox, in Norwalk. They also attended the wedding • of their daughter, Miss Marie, to William Kelly, son of Mr. and Mrs. James J. Kelly. They stopped in S i 1 v a m Springs, Ark., to visit Mr. Fox’s sister1 and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wood. Afghan Will Be Given Away— St. Helen’s Guild With Mrs. Ed Gallagher as chairman will spon sor the March meeting of St. Patrick’s Altar society on Thurs day, March 1, at 8 o’clock in the Knights of Columbus clubrooms. The afghan, crocheted by Mrs. George Head, will be given a way at this meeting. A business meeting of the of ficers and guild chairman will be Monday, March 5, at 2 p.m. 40 et 8 Holds Promenade Here— The Norfolk chapter of the American Legion’s 40 et 8 club held a promenade and banquet at the Simonson post clubroom here Tuesday, February 13. Forty guests were present, in cluding members and their guests. Mrs. McElhaney Wins at Pinochle— Mrs. Paul Shierk entertained at a pinochle party on Tuesday at her home. Mrs. Ted McElhaney won high score. Mrs. Stout Entertains— Martez club winners Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. C. E. Stout were: Mrs. Ira Moss and Mrs. P. B. Harty. SAT., FEB. 24 Music by ALICE and Her Orchestra Louise Ann Her a February Bridle Miss Louisa Ann Her, neice of Mr. and Mrs. Sumner Downey, was united in marriage to Rob ert Ross Axtell. son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Axtell, of Hamburg, ia., Saturday, February 17, at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian church. Rev. Ralph Gerber per formed the singie-ring ceremony. Mrs. John Harbottle, organist, played several numbers before ihe ceremony and accompanied Miss Carol Younkin, a sorority sister of the bride, as she sang, ‘ i Love Thee.” The bride appeared in a bal lerina gown fashioned with chan tilly lace in rose point motif. It had a sheer illusion yolk. A lace petal point design was appiqu ed on the full skirt. The same design was appliqued on her close fitting lace cap, from which her finger tip illusion veil fell. She carried white roses. Her sister, Miss Dorothy, was : maid-of-honor. She appeared in a nile green lace ballerina gown with shirred strapless bodice and full flared skirt. Her jacket had a pointed collar and three quart er length sleeves. Her bouquet was American beauty roses. Mr. Axtel chose Irwin Chesen, of Lincoln, for his bestman. The ushers were Richard Day, of Missouri Valley, la., Donald Bloom, of Omaha, and William Mueller, of Lincoln, and Russell Laird, of Des Moines, Ia. Mrs. Downey, the brides aunt, wore a light blue crepe dress with seed beads embroidered on the top. Her accessories were black and she wore a black per sion lamb cape. Her corsage was of pink camelias. Mrs. Axtell, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a navy blue dress with matching accessories. She also had a corsage of pink cam ellias. A repeption for 120 guests was held at the Downey home. Miss Phyllis Axtel had charge of the guest book. For traveling, the bride wore a grey green three piece tweed suit with bitter sweet accssories. After a wedding trip to New Or leans, La., the couple will reside in Hamburg. Mrs. Axtell is a graduate of St. Mary’s academy, glass of 1947. She also was graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor of science degree in education. She is a memfoep of Delta Delta Delta. Mr. Axtell, who graduated from Sidney, la., high school, was also graduated from the University of Nebraska. He is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, the Kosmet Klub, Beta Gamma Sigma and Innocents society. There were many out-of-town friends of the young couple pre sent. Miss Glee Iler, of Dallas, S. D.. a sister of the bride, was also present. Party at Cones for Brownies— Brownie troop I held a valen tine party Wednesday, February 14, at the home of Mrs. Ivan Cone. Refreshments of heart shaped cake, j e 11 o, sandwiches and koolaid were served. Some of the girls brought treats, too. After exchanging valentines, games were played. The Cone home was decorated appropriate ly for Valentine’s day. Each Brownie brought a gift for Mrs. Cone, honoring her on her birth day anniversary. Pvt. Gene Cavanaugh Is Honored at Party— Mr. and Mrs. Fred O. Her mann entertained a group of young people at a party Wednes day, February 14, in honor of Pvt. Gene Cavanaugh, who is home on leave from the air force base at Amarillo, Tex. Hold Country Club Dinner— The lady members of the Country club held a dinner bridge Wednesday. Mrs. P. B. Harty was in charge. She was assisted by Mrs. F. N. Cronin and Mrs. Marvin Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Halva and family, of Lynch, visited in O’ Neill Saturday afternoon. A mong those they visited were Mr. and Mrs. Victor Halva. James Bridges, a student at Wesleyan university in Lincoln, visited his mother, Mrs. Alice Bridges, for the weekend. “Grandpa” Hershiser was a Sunday dinner guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beilin. Elwin Benson, of Omaha, was a weekend guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh O. Benson. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gettert visited Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gettert and daughter in Atkinson. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene VanEvery entertained Mr. and Mrs. Fay Robeson at dinner Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sensenly, of Manson, Wash., arrived Sun day afternoon for an extended visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ressel, with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ressel and at other places. Mrs. Lizzie Buckmaster, of Royal, arrived Sunday for a visit with her son and daughter-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Buck master. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sawyer, Mrs. Lyle M. Green and Mrs. Arthur Dexter visited Mrs. Louis Niles at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Norfolk Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Johnson, of Lexington, were weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lar ry Johnson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ressel at tended the funeral of Mrs. Au gust Brinkman Sunday in Atkin son. Matt Hynes and Joe Langan were in Ewing Tuesday. Mrs. If. L. Lindberg and Ted went to Omaha Sunday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bruder, of Atkinson, visited their son-in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herman J. Janzing. O'NEILL LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. John Hyhes went to Omaha last Thursday for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. William W. Grif fin went to Omaha Saturday. Mr. Griffin returned and Mrs. Grif fin remained for a few days. L. M. Merriman went to Kan sas City Sunday, February 18, on business. He returned Tuesday evening. James Merriman spent the weekend with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Merriman. He came to attend the Iler - Axtell nuptials on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Asher re turned Tuesday from a trip through Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Fred O. Heer mann and daughter went to Na per Saturday to visit his moth er, Mrs. Anna Heerman. Mr. and Mrs. Ario A. Hiatt were in Norfolk Friday. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Hill and family drove to Ainsworth Sun day to visit relatives. Mrs. Margaret Rheinhardt, of Omaha, and the three youngest children of John Rotherham are | visiting relatives in O’Neill in cluding her mother, Mrs. John Rotherham. Miss Maxine Golden and a friend, Miss Mary Ann Hayes, both nurses at St. Catherine’s hospital in Omaha, were week end guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Gol den. They also attended the Iler Axtell wedding Saturday. Thomas Harty and a friend, Jim Young, of Kansas, students at Creighton university in Om aha, spent the weekend at the home of Toms parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Harty. James Merriman, a student at Creighton university in Omaha, came home for the weekend. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Merriman. Gene McKenna, of Omaha, vis ited his mother, Mrs. Mabel Mc Kenna, last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Jacobson and son, Paul, returned Satur day from a trip to the West coast.
