sale Saturday afternoon at the
locker plant.
Mr. and Mrs. James Kelley en
tertained the Pinochle club at

John Watson, who left Monday
for California where he leaves
for overseas.
Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Watson took
their son, M/Sgt. John Watson
to Norfolk on Monday afternoon
where he continued on to Oma
ha and from there to California
where he will be shipped over
seas. Sergeant Watson and Mrs.
Watson came Friday from Wells,
Minn., where they had been vis
iting her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
L. A. Preston. On Saturday, Ser
geant Watson took Mrs. Watson
to Omaha where she continued
on to Des Moines, la., to attend
the funeral of her grandmother.
Polio Benefit Party
Held at Royal—
ROYAL—A comDlned card
party and auction sale was held
here at the school for benefit of
the polio fund with the result
that $67.25 was added to other
donations, which included $25
from the Royal Community club
and $5 from the Woman’s Socie
ty of Christian service. Money
from coin collectons about town
has not been checked. With this
addition the fund will be more
than $100 which speaks well for
the village.
At the auction, dressed chick
ens sold as high as $8 and cakes
were worth $5 apiece. Mrs. Mil
lie Mahood, chairman, was assis
ted by Mrs. Alois Mlnarik and
Mrs. Harold Francis.

Miss Leona Underwood went
to Clearwater Monday to attend
the wedding of her cousin, Miss
Josephine Van Ert, to William
Frank Meis, of Elgin. The wed
ding took place Tuesday at a
9:30 a. m. mass in Clearwater.
Mr. and Mrs. John Underwood
and family went down Tuesday
evening to attend the wedding
dance.
Mrs. W. E. McQuistan, of Bris
tow, visited her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C. M.
McGlasson, last week.
