Get Pipe Organ for Chambers Church CHAMBERS—Victor and Ver non Harley left Sunday morning for Missouri to get a pipe organ for St. Paul's Lutheran church. Other Chambers News Mr. and Mrs, Steve Shavlik, Myron and Pamela drove to Clearwater Sunday to visit her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Switzer. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Grimes, Mrs. Lela Corcoran and boy and Mr. and Mrs. Kieth Sexton and Nadene were Sunday dinner guests at the Clarence Grimes home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brockmol ler, of Laurel, came Saturday, January 13, and visited over Sun day with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Sorensen. Mrs. Valo Edwards left Satur day for Gretna to visit her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. William Flavel, and family. Marilyn Davis, Clarence Young, jr., and Mark Alderson were beginners at the Valley Center school, starting on Mon day, January 15. Among the midterm graduates of Morningside college at Sioux City was Ben W. Medcalf, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Medcalf. Ex- j ercises were held Friday, Janu ary 19, at Grace Methodist church at Morningside. Mr. Med calf, who specialized in mathe-1 matics and commerce, received a bachelor of science degree. He is employed at present in Sioux Ci ty. His wife is the former Phyllis Carpenter, of Chambers. They have two children. Sunday dinner guests in the E. H. Medcalf home were: Mr. and Mrs. John Harvey and family, of Orchard; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Mil ler and family, of Clearwater, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Med calf and children, of O’Neill. Later in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Ben Medcalf and children, of Sioux City, were guests. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Porter and Dr, and Mrs. C. M. Eason, of O’ Neill, were visitors in the H. W. Hubbard home Sunday evening. Mrs. Victor Harley visited her sister, Mrs. Elsie Doolittle, Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brown and children were guests in the William Reicks home Friday | evening. Mrs. Ramon Bright Entertains— Sunday, January 21, Mrs. Ra mon Bright gave a birthday an niversary dinner in honor of Mr. Bright, Mrs. Darrell Bright and Mrs. Richard Hovey. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Hovey, of Stuart, were observing a wed ding anniversary. Mrs. Archie Bright baked a three-tier angel cake, decorated in blue and pink, for the occa sion. Miss Ruby Fox to California— Miss Ruby Fox, who has been employed as bookkeeper at Gam bles for the past year left Wed nesday for Norwalk, Calif., where she will visit her brother, Leon ard, and his wife, and her sister, Marie Fox. Miss Donna Davis replaces Miss Fox. Miss Fox is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fox. Shirley Withers Resumes Schooling AMELIA—Miss Shirley With ers planned to return to Lincoln this week to resume school duties. Waldo returned Thurs day from Broadwater, where he took Mike Curran to the home of his sister, Mrs. Ed Connors, where he will visit sometime. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hiatt and Gene, and Mrs. Viola Travers at tended the funeral of their neice, Miss Agnes Mulligan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Mulligan, at Bridgeport Wednesday, Jan uary 17. The Tibbets went to Omaha Sunday where they will make their home and Mr. Tibbets will toe employ ed by the Bell Telephone com pany. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Porter and sons, Marvin and Robert, of Ba sin, Wyo., spent the first of the week visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Backaus. Vem Sageser went to Lincoln, Monday where he will attend a meeting of fair boad officials. Mr. and Mi’s. Lee Sammons, Mrs. Mamie Sammons and Fr ank Pierce drove to Winner, S. D., Sunday to visit at the Bob Eng lish home near there. Dean Gilman, of Lincoln, spent last weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gilman. The Amelia high school boys went to Page Wednesday, Janu ary 17, to play basketball there. They were defeated. Mr. and Mirs. Wm Matthauser, of Burwell, spent the weekend visiting their daughter, Mrs. Bob Ries, and family. The Merry Matrons club met Wednesday, January 17 with Mrs. Irwin Forbes as hostess and Mrs. D. D. Kellar Ladies Hear Children's Home Report— CHAMBERS — Kellar Presby terian Ladies Aid met on Wed nesday, January 17, at the home ! of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kiltz for an ali-day session. There were 14 members, three visitors, four men and three children present. Everyone greatly enjoyed the dinner. The afternoon meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Chas Coolidge, and opened with the singing of the hymn, “Love Lifted Me.” Scripture for the af ternoon was Psalms 108, read by Mrs. Ernest Young. A report was given by the treasurer, Mrs. Ray Hoffman. Re ports were also given by the com mittees on chairs and lights.
