hospital in Omaha. . . Fred Rich
ardson spent several days last
week in a hospital at Ainsworth.*
He had suffered from what was
described as an ulcer on one o*
his eyes. He is “much improved”
at this time but expects to con
sult a specialist soon, as this is
the second time the trouble has
occurred. Charley Mlinar has
been having the same experience
and has been to specialists in
Norfolk. The exact cause has not
been determined in either case
, , . James Tracy is "critically ill”
at the home of his son, George.
Mr. Tracy served as janitor of
the Atkinson public school for
many years and is known to most
as "Jim" . . . Pneumonia patients
at the Stuart Community hospit

beth Wilcox returned Saturday,
D cernber 17, from Stuart where
she had been a pneumonia pa
tient. Miss Wilcox is seventh
grade teacher at the Atkinson

is "critically ill” at his home in
Atkinson. .. Simon Schaaf’s con
dition is “fair." . Mrs. Rex Beck
with has been spending several
weeks helping to care for her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Seger,
who are ill. Mr. Seger, of Inman,
is bedfast and has been for
sometime. Mrs. Seger was taken
to O’Neill (for care the first of
the week. Mr. Seger’s condition
is considered “critical,” Mrs. Se
ger is "somewhat improved.”
EWING—Mr. and Mrs. Benja
min Larson, accompanied by his
brother, Harry Larson, of Alzada,
Moht., went to Rochester, Minn.,
on Saturday where Mrs. Larson
had an appointment for a physi
cal checkup at the Mayo clinic
on Monday. Harry Larson will
also have a checkup there. . .
Mrs. Perry Sai9er, who has been
ailing for several months, went
to Rochester, Minn., on Friday
where she will undergo medical
treatment. She was accompanied
by Mr. Saiser and her daughter,
Mrs. Gordon Hoag, of Omaha. • •
Mrs. James Pennington has been
having a seige of influenza the
past week. Her mother, Mrs. Roy
Green, of Cedar Rapids, has
helped care for her and her fam
ily. . . Ernie Norwood, who has
been a patient for the past month
at the Veterans hospital at Grand
Island, is back home again

Mrs. Leland Welke took their
oldest son, Milan, to Norfolk on
Monday, December 11, for a
physical checkup. He is able to
be back in school. . . Mr. and

from the Lloyd Clemens family
stating that Betty Clemens is ill
with rheumatic fever.
LYNCH—Dr. G. B. Ira, who
has been ill, is ‘igetting along
well.” . . Janis Mae Ellwanger
was dismissed from the Sacred
Heart hospital Friday, Decem
ber 15, and returned to her home
at Butte. She had suffered a bro
ken leg when the wheel of a
wagon loaded with corn went
over her leg several weeks ago.
. . Dennis Steinback, of Verdel,
underwent an appendectomy at
the Sacred Heart hospital on
Thursday, December 14.
CELIA—Darrel and Dale, 10
months-old twin sons of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Focken, have been
having a seige of pneumonia the

has been quite sick with influ

eral weeks absence because of
whooping cough.

appendicitis operation. He was

able to be outdoors Saturday for
the first time in four weeks after
being confined to his home by
illness.
