DILL—Mr. and Mrs. Warren
Dill, of West Point, a daughter,
boirn Sunday, December 3. Mrs.
Dill was formerly Yvonne Dick- i
ey, of Spencer, and Mr. and Mrs.
,Harold Dickey, of Spencer, are
the grandparents.
BARTAK—Mr. and Mrs. Bud
Bartak, of Deloit, a daughter, bom
Wednesday, December 6, at the
Tilden hospital.
GRAFF— Rev. and Mrs. Orin
C. Graff, of Atkinson, a daughter,
Elizabeth Hope, weighing 8
pounds 11 Vi ounces, bom Thurs
day, December 7, at the Stuart
hospital. She was bom on the
sixth anniversary of her father’s
ordination. Reverend Graff is
pastor for the Presbyterian
church at Atkinson, the Commu
nity church at Stuart, and the j
Cleveland Presbyterian at Cleve
land.

Ross Paddock, of Atkinson, a son,
weighing Tin pounds, born Sat- J

sett hospital. Mrs. Paddock is the
former Vera Peterson.

Friday, December 8, at the
Methodist hospital in Sioux City.
The Medcalfs have a 3-year-old
son.

hospital.

who underwent a major operation
in an Omaha hospital November

their home December 3 after
spending the evening with his

word that their son, Richard

when Pat Coyne was removed

residence at St. Edward. Pat
Coyne had been hospitalized a
month following a broken hip.

returned Friday from Oklahoma
City, Okie., where the infant,
Dewey, was bom on November
29. Mother and baby are at the
D. C. Schaffer home here.
LYNCH—Ed Johns was “sev
erely bruised" Thursday, Decem
ber 5, when he was kicked by his
horse. He was kicked above the
knee of his left leg. X-rays were
taken and no bones were broken .
. . . Mrs. Katie Vraspir was dis
missed from a Norfolk hospital 1
last week and is now at the home
j of here daughter, Mrs. Joe Rihan
ek. . . . Eugene Hrbek, of Scott
ville, is “quite ill” with rheuma
tic fever in the Lynch hospital . . .
Kathryn Mulhair was taken to j
the local hospital this week for j
treatment. She has been unablej
to attend school the past 10 weeks !
due to a heart ailment. . . Bar- ;
bara, 8-year-old daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Conrad Thorell, of BrLs- j
tow, was brought to Lynch doc- j
tors Thursday. She fell from the ■
kitchen cabinet while climbing ;
up to find a nickel. She struck the
breadbox cuting a long deep gash
in the skin. Twenty stitches were
required to close the wound. She
and a playmate were at home
alone at the time of the accident
. . . Mrs- Elmer Alder, sr., of Dor
sey, is assisting at the Elmer Al
der home in the care of the Al
der children, who have the
whooping cough.
PAGE—Ray Snell and his son
in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. W. W. Waller, and family,
of O’Neill, drove to Sioux City
Sunday to bring Mrs. Snell home
from St. Joseph’s hospital, where
she had spent several days. Mrs
Snell went to Sioux City the
first of last week to see about a
foot injury sbe had received eight
weeks ago and which had failed
to improve. It was found there
was a fracture of the foot and it
was necessary to reduce the swel
ling before it could be put in a
cast . . . Ldoyd Fussleman, mana
ger of the Farmers Union store
at Page, was able to work at the
store Monday afternoon. He had
been confined to his home for a
month following an attack of
pneumonia. . , Mr. and Mrs. Al
ton Braddock and Jo Ann took
Mrs. A. L. Don* and Vernon to
Sioux City Sunday to see Mr.
Donr, who is a patient in the
Lutheran hospital. They all re
turned home Monday.
ATKINSON —Russell Everett
suffered a severe stroke Thurs
day, December 7. For a time his
condition was considered critical
but he is now “slowly improv
ing.” . . Dave Lamphier, who has
been employed at the Hickman
farm for many years, is on the
sick list this week. . . Mrs. Leo
Seger is at home now but is not
allowed to have visitors. . . Mi’s.
James Coday, sr., and Mrs. Jen
nie Heeter were patients at Our
Lady of Lourdes hospital at Nor
folk this past week—Mrs. Coday
for medical treatment and Mrs.
Heeter for surgery.
EWING—Mr. and Mas. Benjam
in Larson took Mrs. Rose Fridley
and her daughter, Mrs. Katherine
Boies, and Jennie Brown to Nor
folk on Friday. Mrs. F'ridley, who
has been bedfast for the past six
months with a broken hip, went
to the hospital for a complete
checkup. The report was that she
was “doing fine” and would be
able to bet up part time . . . Mrs.
Casper Larson came home Mon
day, December 4, from the Luth
eran hospital at Norfolk where
she had been a surgical patient.
CHAMBERS—Bill Major was
taken to the Methodist hospital
in Sioux City where he expected
to undergo a major operation on
Monday Bill Turner and Leo
Adams took him down . . . Clair
Grimes and daughter, Mrs. Lela
Corcoran, and G. H. Grimes drove
to Sioux City Friday where the
latter two had medical checkups
. . . Mrs. Charles Edwards return
ed last Thursday from the Tilden
hospital where she had under
gone an operation for appendic
es.
SOUTH OF STUART —Joe
Batenhorst underwent a minor
operation Thursday, November
30, at the Good Samaritan hospi
tal in Kearney. He returned
home Tuesday, December 2. , .
Mrs. Harold Givens and Mrs.
Charles Deermer are sick in bed
with the influenza. . . Mrs. John
Miksch went to Omaha Monday
for a checkup with her doctor.
She will visit her two daughters
and families, Mrs. Conrad Bott
and Mrs. Ernest Bott, at Hastings
before returning home.
NORTH OF STUART— Little
Wynn Hipke has been quite ill
with influenza the past week, but
it reported “improving.” Wynn is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Hipke. . . Whooping cough and
influenza have been making the
rounds of the community. Many
children have been kept at home.
STUART—Bruce Shald is a pa
tient in a hospital at Winner, S.
D., following a highway accident
. . . Mrs. Susie Fuller has been
sick with influenza the past week
. . . Mrs. Mark Nelson is sick with
the flu.
DELOIT—Mrs. Henry Reimers
I visited a dentist in Neligh last
Thursday . . . There has been an
epidemic of colds and influenza.
