# Cantata Title
On Sunday night, December
ill, at 7:30 p. m., the choir of
First Presbyterian church will
present the Christmas cantata,
"Childe Jesus,” by Joseph Clo
key and Hazel Kirk. The music
of the cantata is comprised of
folk tunes and melodies from
different countries which relate
the coming of Christ from Old
Testament prophecy through His
birth.
Solo parts in the cantata will
be taken by Miss Barbara Ben
nett, Miss Lois Harder, Miss
-Phyllis Harmon, Miss Verle Ral
ya, Bruce McElhaney, William
Artus, Roy Lundgren, and Stan
ley Lambert, of the Bethany
Presbyterian church.
The cantata is under the direc
tion of Mrs. Ralph Gerber. Mrs.
John Harbottle is piano accom
panist.
In addition to the cantata,
"Childe Jesus,” the evening pro
gram will include some Christ
mas vocal music by a girls’ triple
trio and a mixed quartet. The
triple trio is composed of Misses
Lois Harder, Priscilla Holsclaw,
Patricia DeBolt, Barbara Ben
nett, Verle Ralya, Elizabeth
{Schaffer, Carolyn Hiatt, Mary
Lou Conrad, and Phyllis Har
mon. Members of the quartet
are Miss Bonnie Harmon, Mrs.
Ray Bennhausen, Roy Lundgren
and William Artus.
The Presbyterian church ex
tends an invitation to all to at
tend this program of sacred
Christmas music, according to
Rev. Ralph Gerber, church pas
tor.
Chambers Man Into
Honorary Fraternity—
James Hossack, son of John Q.
Hossack, of Chambers, has been
named to Sigma Tau, national
engineering honorary society at
the University of Nebraska.
New members of the organiza
tion are selected from juniors

Kellar Aid Prepares
Gifts for Mission—
The Kellar Presbyterian Aid
met at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Hoffman on Wednesday,
December 6, for an all-day ses
sion.
Ten members, seven men and
one child were present for the
dinner .
The president, Mrs. Charles
Coolidge, conducted the meeting
and led the lesson which was
“Not Counting the Cost’’ from
the boolc of Matthew.
The members exhibited and
wrapped the gifts which they
had brought to be sent to an or
phan’s home.
Mrs. Coolidge told of receiving
“thank - you’’ letters from the
Presbyterian mission for the
gifts of clothing and hospital sup
plies which had been sent ear
lier.
Mrs. Coolidge appointed Mrs.
Grubb, Mrs. Bernard Hoffman
and Mrs. Wondersee to serve on
the committee to buy and sack
the Christmas treats.
The officers for the coming
year were elected. They are: Mrs.
Charles Coolidge, president; Mrs.
Guais Win ter mote, vice - presi
dent; Mrs. Elmer Wondersee,
secretary; Mrs. Ray Hoffman,
treasurer; Mrs. Bernard Hoff
man, news reporter.
The meeting closed by repeat
ing "The Lord’s Prayer.’’
The Christmas party will be at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Eisenhauer. It will be an all-day
meeting and members will bring
gifts not exceeding 50 cents in
value for the grab bag.
Garden Club Elects
for New Year—
CHAMBERS —The Chambers
Garden club held its Christmas
party Wednesday afternoon, De
cember 6, at the home of Mrs.
Steve Shavlik with 16 members
; present.
A covered dish luncheon was
served at 2 o’clock after which
the business meeting was held.
Entertainment was in charge of
Mrs. Mae Thorin and Mrs. Fran
cis Thorin. Mrs. Ruth Dankert
won the prize for the most at
tractive centerpiece and Mrs. Til
lie Walter won the door prize.
Gifts were exchanged.
Officers elected for the coming
year are: Tillie Walter, presi
dent; Wanda Lenz, vice - presi
dent; Anna Albers, secretary;
Lizzie Reninger, treasurer, and
Genevieve Gillette, news report

bridge party Monday night:

Elmer Wondersee, Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Farrier, Mr. and Mi's. Bill

Mrs. Elmer Wondersee won
high for the women; Clifford
Gillette, high for the men. The
low scores were Mrs. Clifford
Gillette and Bill Russ. A lunch
of sandwiches, ice cream, cake
and coffee was served.

ber 23, by the Commercial club
with treats for the kiddies and a
free show at the Eldorado theatre.
