Lamperts Entertain At Turkey Dinner EWING — Mr. and Mrs. Pat Lamport were hosts at a turkey dinner last Thursday evening at the American Legion club to which they had invited 60 couples. Five of their largest turkeys were roasted for the occasion and was served cafctera style with all the trimmings. The evening was spent dancing and visiting The Lamport family lives in the Empona neighborhood and make a business of raising sever al thousand turkeys each year. The turkey dinner is an annuel affair to which they treat their friends. Other Ewing News Wm. Murray and daughter, Sharon, oi O'Neill, were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Har old Haris on Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Spangler and twin daughters, Judy and Joan, and Mrs. Ebbtsn Grafft were Christmas shoppers in O’Neill on Friday. The Ewing Methodist Sunday school members will bring gifts next Sunday for the white Christ mas bag. The gifts are wrapped in white and will be sent to the Nebraska children’s home this year. Hiis is an annual event in the Sunday-school. Mr. and Mrs Benjamin Larson were shoppers in O'Neill on Sat urday. Mrs. Agnes Bartak went to Ne ligh on Friday to visit art the home of her daughter and son • in-law, Mr ami Mrs. Vance Ben nett, and family. Floyd Bergstrom, of Newcastle, Wyo., arrived in Ewing Saturday to visit relatives. The forepart of the week he was a guest at the home of his brother and sister MiniMHinfwwiniutfiiirHKWUWii'e'jii ' in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ber strom, and family. On Wednesday, December 12, Mr. and Mrs. Sis Ebbengaard I took her aunt, Mrs. Fern Morr, 1 of Orchard, to North Bend where J she will visit relatives. The Eb bengaards returned home the same day. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Miarquardt j and daughter, Joan, of Laurel, | were guests of his parents, Mr. | and Mrs. A. H. Marquardt, on jSunday. Mr and Mrs. Irvin Cloyd were happy to receive two letters from l their son, David, in the navy on i Monday. They had received no i mail from him for five weeks, having been out on sea duty. After 54 days of looking for a letter or word from their son, 1 Pat, in the navy, the anxiety of Mr. and Mrs. Art Sanders was j relieved when they received a | package from him, containing gifts made in Japan for each in the family. The package arrived Monday, December 4. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Cloyd and family went to Plainview on Sun day to spend the day with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Geo. Tim merman. Mrs. Cloyd's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Les lie Brokaw, and family, of Nor folk, were also guests. Mrs. Agnes Bartak accompani ed AdoLph Bartak and daughter Shirley to W a y n e on Sunday where Miss Bartak will resume her studies at the Wayne state teachers college. Mrs. Bartak and Alolph went on to Belden where they visited at the home of Mrs. Rose Rethwisch. Mrs. Agnes Bartak is back home again after spending five weeks with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Andrews and family, of North Platte. Mrs. Minnie Primus and her daughter, Mrs. Walter Summer er, were hostesses to a party of friends at the Primus home in ! Ewing Saturday evening T h a guests were entertained with home movies. Mrs. Summerer while touring the South on a va cation trip had taken many beau ! tiful and interesting pictures. These were shown as she told the stoiy of the tour. All agreed that it was a delightful way to pass on the pleasure of the trip to ; home folks. A social hour was j enjoyed while the hostesses ser ved a luncheon. Those present were: Mrs. Win. Wuif, Mr. and Mrs. Riley Canaday, Mr. and Mi's. Miss Marlize Schrad, Mrs. Mar 1 tin Van Conet and Merle Lee at tended the last session of the 1 science course at O’Neill on Sat I urday. Sunday evening dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sis Ebbengaard were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Patras and Mr and Mrs. Roy Stevens, all from Clearwat er. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bergstrom and daughter, Kay, and their guests, Floyd Bergstrom, of New castle, Wyo., s'pent Sunday visit ing at the home of Mrs. Jessie Bittner, of Plainview. She is a sister of Elmer and Floyd. COMPLETES 46 MISSIONS John Lee Baker, son of Mrs. H. J. Lohaus, a lieutenant in the air force, wrote home No vember 28 that he was still at Kimpo airfield, outside Seoul, Korea. He had flown 46 missions and was “well and safe.” Makes Wstern Trip— L. D. Putnam returned Wed nesday from a three days’ busi ness trip West. Miss Audree Nel son, of Spencer, spent the week end at the Putnam home. Mrs. Putnam and Billy drove her home Sunday. tf ft UTWMrh*MTM Ex-Holt Man Gets Promotion INMAN—Mrs. A. N. Butler has received word from her brother, Chester Fowler, of Olive, Calif., that he has received a promotion. The sixth grade teacher at Benjamin Franklin school, he was named as the new principal of the Broadway school by Ana heim School Superintendent M. A. Graver. It is expected that Mr. Fowler will continue on as principal of | the new Thomas Jefferson school I now nearing completion. Fowl i er’s appointment becomes effec ! tive January 2, 1951. He was born at Inman in 1907, graduated from the Inman high school. He now lives in Olive but plans to move to Anaheim as soon as possible. He is married, his wife being the former Geraldine Davies, of Inman. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Davies, now live in Lincoln. They have one son, Mark Evan. Mr. Fowler’s training includes Morningside college and Wayne college and teaching in Holt and Wayne county schools. LEGAL NOTICE (First pub. Dec. 14, 1950.)
