the Elmer Trowbridge farm, 3
miles northwest of Page, de
1 stroyed a large double granary,
-1,500 bushels of corn, a quanti
ty of oats and rye, and two stacks
of alfalfa.
The fire had been burning
some time before being discover
ed. Fire alarms were sent to both
Page and O’Neill. It was the on
ly fire alarm during the week for

ley was released Monday from St.
Vincent’s hospital in Sioux City
where she had been confined for
three months as a result of a frac
tured hip. She was transferred to
O Neill hospital in a Biglin Bros,
ambulance. Mrs. O’Malley suffer
! ed the broken hip as the result
| of a kitchen fall . . . Mrs. Patrick
O’Donnell was taken to O’Neill
hospital early Sunday by ambu

“severe" case of the flu the past

burned in a filling station at Lin
coln when gas fumes caused a
stove fire. He received second de
gree burns on his hands and face

pital convalescing after an eye
operation.
NORTH OF STUART —Many
families of the north of Stuart
vicinity are having whooping
cough. The children of Mr. and
Mrs. Wardell Alexander, Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer McClurg, and the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Stalecker, who run the Dustin
store, are reported having their i
turn at present. . . . Charles
Sweet missed two days of school
last week because of illness. He
is a fifth grader in district 52.
STUART—Mark Kaup, Stuart
high school student who receiv
ed a broken leg in a truck acci
dent October 13, accompanied
Rev. Joseph Kaup to Omaha on
P’riday, November 24, and re
turned home on Sunday. While
in Omaha he consulted a doc
tor. His leg’s condition is “satis
factory.” . . Mrs. Berlin Mitchell
is recovering from a sprained
ankle which she received Wed
nesday, November 22, when she
fell.
ATKINSON — Several little
folks of the community have
been near to hospitalization be
cause of severe colds. Those who
have been ill are Jerry Schaaf,
Kenneth Fuhrer and Karen
Carr. . . Mrs. Leo Seger is im
proving “very slowly.” . . Simon
Schaaf has recovered sufficiently
from surgery that he is expected
home soon but his condition is
only "fair.” . . Mrs. Robert Keat
ing is only "fair.”

Monday, November 13, as a med
ical patient. . . Mrs. Ethel
Stracke entered Our Lady of
Lourdes hospital Tuesday, No

vember 22. . . Mrs. Robert Green
field and son left the Bassett hos
pital Monday, November 27.
REDBIRD — Bruoe Scholl
meyer, 7-year-old son of Mr. and
Mrs. Herman Schollmeyer, had
his tonsils and adenoids remov
ed Friday, November 24, at the
Lynch hospital.
PAGE — Mrs. Calvin Harvey,
who was ill with influenza, was
taken to the Orchard hospital
Sunday. She planned to return
home Tuesday.
