Re-Visits Atkinson After 54 Years ATKINSON—J ihn Knap, a cou sin of the late Bert Freed, was visiting at the home of Mrs Freed last weekend. Mr. Knap, who now' lives at Litchfield, recalls that the last time he visaed in Atkinson was 54 years ago He was a man of 18 at the time. He and a cousin, Ez ra Rogers, rode horseback from Litchfield. It took them two days to make the trip. He says Atkin son has changed considerably since then. Other Atkinson News Mr. and Mrs. Hans Bogue, a former proprietor of the H. and M. cafe, have moved to their new lybuilt home in East Atkinson. The Bogues recently purchased the Morrill place and built a mod em home there. Mr Bogue’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Hupp, have taken over the business. Mr. Hupp was formerly employed at the Leo Kramer shop. Mr. and Mrs. Pius Ackerman and their two daughters return ed Monday to their home in Cas per, Wyo. They had been visiting at the home of Mrs. Ackerman’s mother, Mrs. Polly Davis, and al so at the Anton Weichnvan home. Mrs. Ackerman, who was Flor ence Davis, is a sister of Mrs Weichman. Mr. and Mrs. Harley Everett left Tuesday, November 14, for a hunting trip through southern Nebraska and Kansas. They were accompanied by Mrs. Clinton Shellhase who will visit relatives in Kansas and Mrs. Christina Wil son, who will visit relatives jit Chester The Lutheran ladies held their annual bazaar and supper Tues day, November 14. This group of ladies always has a beautiful dis play of needlework. This year was no exception. The Christian Mothers held their regular meeting at the K. C. hall Tuesday, November 14. Plans were made for the anual Christ mas party, Mrs. Mary James was hostess. WRC Kennington will meet Fri day, November 17, at the home of Mrs. Tom Maroney, Mrs. Nellie Riley will be cohostess. Mrs. Alex Cleary entertained 18 members of the Atkinson Exten sion club at her home Wednesday, November 8, (Mrs. Ries was assis tant hostess. Mrs. Elvin White and j Mr. Ralph Ries had charge of the lesson on “Meat Cookery’’. The ladies welcomed two new mem bers at this meeting, Mrs. Joe I Rocke, jr., and Mrs. Dean Stevens. The annual Christmas party will be held at the home of Mrs Joe aocke on Wednesday, December 13. STUART NEWS Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Obermire and family, of Atkinson, were Sunday, November 5, visitors in the Gus Obermire home. Lawrence Engler, college stu dent in Lincoln, visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Engler, over the weekend. Jim Chaney, of Chadron, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Chaney, visited over the weekend with homefolks. Don McNair, of Gordon, son of Mr. and Mrs. George McNair, vis ited over the weekend with home lolks. Miss Beverly Kallemeyn was honored at a farewell party at the home of Mrs. Katherine Pap ke on Wednesday evening, No vember 8. Misses Avis Papke, Norma Cadwallader and Velma Bolen were the hotesses. B. H. Coffman, of Kansas City, Mo., is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Coffman. He is a brother of R. A. Coffman. Mr .and Mrs. M. L. Fromm, of Ottumwa, la., arrived on Friday, November 10, for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Coffman. Mrs. Fromm is a sister of R. A. Coff man. Mr. and Mrs. Berlin Mitchell and son, Fred, attended the fall sale of the Holt County Hereford Breeders’ Association in O’Neill on Monday, November 6. Fred purchased a heifer calf consigned by Henry Wood, of Ewing. Rex Coffman, a college student in Lincoln, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Coffman. Miss Betty Hansen, of Oakland, Ore., is visiting with her aunt, Mrs. Alta Lockmon, and other relatives and friends. Stuart Broncos Lose 6, Win 1 STUART — The Stuart high school Broncos played the Bassett Tigers Friday night, November 10, on the home gridiron. Stuart lost the game v*ith a score of 21-0 This was the last game of the season. The Broncos have lost six games and won one. Basketball practice begins this week and the first game is sched uled for Tuesday, December 5, at , Ainsworth.
