Blackmore Family Feted in Farewell CELIA—A surprise farewell party was held for the Bernard Blackmore family Sunday eve ning, August 20. The Black mores are leaving the Joe Hend ricks farm to live on the Ted Baumeister ranch. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Ray Margritz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mitchell and lazily, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Colfax^nd family, Mr. and Mrs. William Meusch and Mr. and | Mrs. Vernon Beckwith and j daughter and Miss Billy Wil- ; liamson, of O’Neill. Other Celia News Marvin Rouse, of Inman, helped Milton McKathnie hay the past week. Stanley and Al bert Johnson and Ed Bausch mane up tne hay gang. They finished McKathnie’s hay and are now putting up hay for Stanley Jonnson. Mrs. Pitchall (the former Dor is Keys) and her husband, of Grand island, spent Friday night with Mr. and Mrs. Gene j Livingston. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Pence, of i York, Nebr., visited the George I Beck family Friday, August 18. Mr. and Mrs. Pence were former neighbors when all lived in Cleveland neighborhood. Buddy Focken has been help ing Marvin Focken the past Week. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Arp visit ed the Emil Colfax family Sun day afternoon, August 20. Mr, and Mrs. R. M. Pease, of O'Neill, visited the Ray Pease family Monday, August 14. Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Hummer berg went to Wichita, Kans., on Tuesday, August 22, and took their daughter, Mrs. E. W. Samms, and Diane, who have been visiting their farm home the past 2 weeks, to their home in Wichita. The Haminerbergs will spend a few days in Wichi ta belore returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Milner are taking care of the O. Charles Mlinar, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith and Lelie were Sunday, August 13, dinner guests of the George Beck family. In the afternoon they toured the Cleveland neighborhood. Mr;. Victor Frickel und chil dren visited the O. A. Hammer berg family Sunday afternoon, August 20. , Most of the Celia people at tended hay days celebration in Atkinson. The parades were “especially good.” Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fock en and family visited the LeRoy Hoffman family Sunday after noon, August 20. Twenty-four guests attended. Games were played after which a lunch of ice cream, cake and coffee were served. Miss Fox received many gifts. Miss Fox will become the bride of George Bosn on September 4. O'Connor, and Helen. 123 Attended Grimton Homecoming— The 13th annual Grimton homecoming was attended by ; 123 persons Sunday, August 20, i at Oak View. There were 2 teachers, 47 pupils and 74 visit ors present. Teachers were Mrs. Elmer Grim and Phlena Van Kleek, of Venus. Nebraska towns represented were Venus, Lincoln, Lexing-' ton, Inman, Omaha, Creighton, ; Lynch, Orchard, Spencer, Mid j dlebranch, Bassett, Page, Wal nut, Norfolk, Star and Verdel. j Caldwell, Ida., and Mission, S. D., were also represented. After dinner roll call was giv en by Viola Pospeshil, regis trar. Those who were not dress ed in hard time clothes paid their “fines” at this time. When Telford Grim answered roll call the birthday song was sung for i him as this was his 16th birth day anniversary. A business meeting was con ducted with President Jerry Waring in charge. All officers were held over for another year. Following the business meeting a volunteer program was in or der. Those taking part were: Nando Grimm and his son, Ho mer, of Lynch; Clarence Grimm, of Lincoln; George Harris, of Omaha; William Grimm, of Mission, S. The club was formed several years ago for the pleasure of its members and when they worked up some drills and square dance numbers on horse I back the performance became popular with neighboring towns as well as locally.
