Helps Sweep Korean Beach— ^•1 ATKINSON — Mr. and Mrs. John Warner received a letter dated July 29 from their son, John, serving in the navy. * This is an excerpt from his letter, “We have been in Korea, swept a beach over there so the 1st cavalry could go ashore. While there, we went up around the 38th parallel patrolling and sweeping, and could see the gun fire but they never bothered a bout us. The trouble is you can’t tell the South Koreans from the North ones. We talked with a guy over there and he said they found 7 Americans with their hands tied behind their backs and shot in their faces. “We got a dispatch from the chief of naval operations giving us a ‘Well done’ on our sweep ing at Gejustoa Wan Korea.” His ship is a mine sweeper. i Patrolmen Speak to Rural Youth— A most interesting question and answer period, conducted by Patrolmen Robeson and Di neen, followed the regular bus iness meeting of the O’Neill Ru ral Youth. Many questions that were of interest to the group were answered. Discussion of the stand to be at the Holt county fair follow ed. Several committees were ap pointed. They are to meet with representatives from the South Holt group at a meeting at the Damkroger home Friday eve ning, August 18. Sunday, August 27, the O’ Neill group has invited the South group to a picnic at the fair grounds at Chambers where they will assemble the stand. Visitors were Mrs. Fay Robe son, Mr. and Mre.
