Mrs. Donald Enright New Auxiliary Head Mrs. Donald Enright has been elected president of the auxili ary of Simonson post 93 of the American Legion here. She suc ceeds Mrs. Ira. Moss. Other officers elected are; Mrs. A. W. Carroll, first vice president; Mrs. George McCar thy, second vice-president; Mrs. M. E. Jacobson, secretary; Mrs. C. V. Sullivan, treasurer; Mrs. Ray B o s n, historian; Mrs. F. E. Parkins, chaplain; Mrs. Charles Yarnell, sergeant-at arms; and Mrs. Robert Lowery, color bearer. New executive committee members are: Mrs. Virgil Laur sen, Mrs. Glenn Tomlinson and Mrs. Jack Davis. Reports were given by the retiring treasurer, Mrs. James Carney, and the poppy sale chairman, Mrs. Dean Streeter. Mrs. Carroll was appointed chairman of a committee to plan for an evening of entertainment for members and their husbands in appreciation of work com pleted during the past year. Patricia Kay Davidson’s name was drawn for the $20 attend ance award. Her mother was not present. Cash attendance award at the July meeting will be $25. At the July meeting, the newly elected officers will be installed. Mrs. Jack Davidson will serve as installation officer. Following the business ses sion lunch was served by a committee composed of Mrs. Francis Murphy, Mrs. John Grutsch, Arlene Kilpatrick, Mrs. Glenn Tomlinson, Mrs. Lloyd Cork, Mrs. Edward Flood and Mrs. Jack Davidson. New Yorkers Arrive— Dr. and Mfs. Donald C. Moore and daughters, Judith Ann and Beth, of Troy, N. Y., arrived Monday, June 12, for a 2-weeks’ visit at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Moore. * t ► % ! Holt Loses 1,685 Holt county’s population loss during the past decade was fixed at 1,685, according to “unofficial preliminary” figures made available last week by Vernon O. Taylor,.of Kearney, assistant supervisor of the bureau of census. Holt's population in 1940 was 16,552 and today it is 14,867. The hog market was off slightly in comparison with the June 8 sale. Butcher hogs 190 to 220 pounds sold from $19.15 to $19.30; 220 to 240 pounders brought $18.75 to $19.15; 240 to 270 pounders hit from $18 to $18.75 while the extra heavy tvpe of butchers sold down from $18. Light sows, 325 pounds and under, sold from $16.75 to $17.15; heavy sows cleared from $14.75 to $16.75. Stags went from $11 to $12 while boars, depending on size, brought from $6.50 to $9.50. Cattle market was following the terminal market trend and was “softer” than that of a week ago. Fat steers carrying consider able wegiht hit $28.15 with the plainer kinds of yearlings “with a little grain” bringing $26.75. Very plain steers brought from $22 to $23.50. Canner cows sold from $16 to $18.50. The better kind of straight barreled heif ers sold up to $22.50. Several good fleshy bulls hit from $20 to $21.50.
