Emmet Methodists Plan to Carry On EMMET — The Methodist church congregation held a meeting at the nome of Mr. and Mrs. John Conard Wednes day evening. May 24. Helen Landholm Becomes a Bride LYNCH — Helen Landholm, daughter of Mrs. Verna Kalkow ski, of Lynch, and Norman . Oberle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Oberle, of Dorsey, were married Sunday, May 21, with Rev. Richard Monroe officiat ing. About 40 friends and rela tives attended. The bride was dressed in an orchid taffeta street-length dress with brown accessories. She wore a pearl necklace and ear Tings, gifts from the bridegroom. She carried a yellow and white rosebud bouquet. Mrs. Lou Ann Thomas was matron-of-honor and wore a copper taffeta streetlength gown with a shoulder corsage of yel low and white rosebuds. The bridegroom wore a gray suit and the bestman, John Eth erton, of O’Neill, wore a brown suit. Both wore white carnation boutonnieres. A reception was held after the ceremony and the luncheon was served by the Theta Rho Girls’ club. The couple plans to make their home in the Dorsey com munity. ATKINSON TAKES LEAGUE OPENER O'Neill - Chambers Fracas Postponed Because Of Rain In the opening round of the 1950 baseball season of the North-Central day and night league, August Troshynski’s Atkinson “9” Sunday afternoon rode to an easy 15-2 verdict over Inman before a “pretty fair” gate. In other engagements O’Neill at Chambers was postponed be cause of wel grounds; and Page had an open date. The initial tilt gave the par itisan fans at Atkinson strong indication that Atkinson would be a top -flight contender for the league championship. The Atkinson tribe demon strated considerable power in the hitting department. Leading hitters for victorious Atkinson were Big Bill Miller and Frank Schaaf. Miller rap ped out 3 hits in 5 trips to the plate. They consisted of a home run, a triple, a single. Schaaf clouted 3 for 3 with a homer and a pair of singles. Clearwater took an early lead when Orchard’s pitcher issued 4 walks in a row and then 2 Clearwater hits sent 5 runs home. South Fork Club In Skating Parly— The 212 South Fork 4-club met at the school Friday, after noon, May 26. The meeting was called to ordeij by the president Joellyn Backhus, The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary, Donald Strong, and were approved. Roll call was answered by giving a good health habit. Plans were made for a fishing party soon. We repeated the 4-H pledge then we sang songs. A stocker feeder and a sew | ing class were held after the meeting. We learned the differ ent parts of a calf, judged our hot pot holders and head scarfs, then we played ball and had a wiener roast. Seventeen mem yers and 12 visitors wer present. Next regular meeting will be at the Leonard Peterson home June 30. We had a roller skat ing party at the Legion hall in Chambers Friday night, May 19.
