Max Mossman, Earl Stevens, Byron Grenier, Herb Nielsen, Darrell Bright, Bill Kelly, Paul Hartigan, Chris Reimers and Joe Conero. Inman absorbed a 11-7 defeat in a practice tilt with the O - Neill Rockets Sunday at O’Neill. Junior Legion Ball Session Cancelled Initial practice for American Legion junior baseballers ran into a muddy snag Tuesday eve ning, May 16. The 25 prospective baseball ers saw their first practice ses sion cancelled because rain made the Carney park field a quagmire. Dorrance Crabb, of Simonson post 93 of the American Legion, who has been placed in charge of junior baseball, called another practice session for Friday afternoon, May 19, on the old public school practice grounds in north O’Neill. 45 People Are Confirmed at Ewing EWING — On Tuesday, May 9, the sacrament of confirma tion was conferred upon 45 members of the St. Peter’s Catholic church parish by Arch bishop Bergan, D. D., of Omaha. There were 10 adults and 35 children. Adults confirmed were: Frank Bollwitt, Lester Wood, Edward Yelli, sr., and Mes dames David Burk, Bernard Kellogg. Roy Vandersnick, Jerome Woslager, Victor Van dersnick, and Geo. Latzel. NORTH OF STUART Mrs. Elsie Sweet and family, Warren and Tom Berry were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bil Finch and fam ily on Sunday, May 14. Mr. Berry stayed for several days’ visit. Calvin and Elmer Allyn were in O’Neill on business Wednes day, May 17. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Smith and family and Mrs. Charles N. Smith called at the Robert Ful lerton home east of Atkinson Sunday evening, May 14. Mrs. Vina Munson spent Wed nesday, May 17, with Mrs. Rus sell Hipke and family. Lyndon Mulford came home from Lincoln Friday night, May 19, where he has been attending school. Mrs. Russell Hipke and boys called on Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lofquest and baby, Linda Ma rie, Monday afternoon, May 15. Mr. and Mrs. Lou Prange were Sunday evening, May 14, callers at the Russell Hipke home. Mrs. Charles Mulford and son, Fred, Mrs. Laura Mulford and Mrs. Vina Munson called at the James Deming and Russell Hip ke homes Tuesday afternoon, May 16. They also visited the “Old Mulford place” where Mrs. Laura Mulford had lived for 30 years. The place is now vacant and owned by Mrs. James Mc Eachen. Mr. and Mrs. Lou Prange vis. ited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hipke Saturday evening, May 20. The Cleveland Sunday-school plans to hold the annual clean up day for the Cleveland ceme tery on Friday, May 26. At this time they also plan to do any repair work needed at the church. Bristow Man Has Legs Amputated LYNCH — John Kopecky, of Bristow, who has been a pa tient in Sacred Heart hospital at Lynch for several weeks, is in “critical” condition follow ing amputation of both legs. One of his legs was already partially amputated and sur geons last week decided anoth er operation was necessary— this time also above the knee. On Tuesday, May 16, the oth er leg was amputated above the knee. Other Lynch News Mr. and Mrs. Ray Keeler, of Bennington, recently visited the Friend Keeler home here. Miss Fusch iust completed a beauty course at Sioux City and her future plans are incomplete. The Lynch schools held a pic nic at the Niobrara river park Friday, May 19. Shirley Campbell, of Wayne, recently visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Campbell. Mrs. Joseph David returned home last week after several days’ visit at the home of her parents in Flandreau, S. D. District 35 pupils and their teacher. Elaine Lihs. enjoyed a field trip Thursday afternoon, May 18, along the Ponca creek, south of the school. Mrs. Bill Teadtke treated them to h*nch. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kalkow ski attended the school picnic at the Knox county school dis trict 37 Friday, May 19. Marian Jo Kalkowski is the teacher. Mrs. Mattie McMeen and Marjorie, of Gregory, S. Fourteen members and 2 guests answered roll call. Mrs. Laura Mulford and Mrs. War dell Alexander were the guests. The aid voted to send Mrs. j Lottie Lofquest and Miss Vesta Adams to Pactola, S. D., to a j teachers’ training camp to be held in July. The secretary, Mrs. McClurg, read a letter from Mrs. Alvin Lofquest, a former member who has moved to Glendale, Calif. The ladies decided to give Rev.
