Brauer-Johring Nuptials Read The wedding of Miss Lila Brauer, daughter of Mr. and Mi%. Peter Brauer, of Bruns wick, and Donald W. Johring, eon of Mrs. Martha Johring, of O'Neill, took place at Commun ity church, of Brunswick, at 2:30 p m. on Sunday, May 7. | Rev. Remi Duhon, of Crow ley, La., brother-in-law of the bridegroom, officiated. He was assisted by Rev. Milford Olson, of Brunswick. Mrs. Howard Manson, of O’ Neill, was pianist. Mrs. Erwin Sawyer, of Brunswick, was vo cal soloist. She sang, “As the Years Go Bye” and “Together with Jesus,” favorite Hymns of the bride. Mrs. Dewey Turner, sister of the bride, of Long Beach, Cal if., was matron - of - honor, and Miss Shirley White, of Norfolk, was bridesmaid Melvin Johring, brother of the bridegroom, was I bestman and the ushers were Ervin Sawyer and Lester Swan, both of Brunswick. The bride’s gown was white silk marquisette, designed with sweetheart neck and long slee ves which terminated in points over the wrists. Fitted bodice, gathered and fastened in front with pearl ice orange blossoms. It had a wide lace insertion through the dress and a long train. The fingertip veil of brid al illusion, edged in lace, fell in tiers from a pearl clustered crown. She wore a strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom, and she carried a white Bible, a gift of her father. It was dec • orated with a bouquet of pink tea roses and long white stream ers. The bride’s bouquet and those of her attendants were colonial nosegays of sweet peas and roses. A reception was held in the church parlors following the ceremony. About 150 guests at tended. The bride’s table was decorated with paper stream ers and candles. The bride is a graduate of Brunswick high school and of Wayne State Teachers' college and is principal of the Bruns wick high school. The couple will reside on a farm northeast of O’Neill, v^here the bride groom now lives. They will go to Louisiana later in the sum _ mer for the wedding trip. ' - Martez. Delta Dek Are Entertained— Mrs. J. B. Grady, Mrs. C. V. Sullivan, and Mrs. A. P. Jasz kowiak entertained the Martez I and Delta clubs Tuesday eve- ! ning. Cards were played at the Grady home. Winners were Mrs. F. N. Cronin, Mrs. C. J. Gatz, Mrs. H. J. Lohaus and Mrs. Frank Froe lich. The all-cut was won by Mrs. George Stannard, who was a out-of-town guest. Food Sale Nets $60— The Cub Scouts held a pack meeting Monday, May 1, at the O’Neill public school. Commit *• tee chairman, Raymond Eby, was in charge. Each den gave a couple of skits and also had on display the things that they had work ed on during the month. The theme was “County Fair.” Maries Winners— Winners at Martez club Tues day, May 2, were Mrs. C. J. Gatz, Mrs. Charles E. Stout, Mrs. Mabel McKenna and Mrs. Frank Froelich. Mrs. William J. Froe lich was hostess. Mrs. Artus Entertains— « | % Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Lar son were visitors at the Or ville McKim home Monday evening. Mrs. J. D. Osenbaugh, Mrs. H. L. Lindberg and Mrs. Esther C. Harris attended the Eastern Star grand chapter meeting in Lincoln this week. Mr. and Mrs. George Hartford visited Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lor enz Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Q. How ard were Sunday supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Soukup. Mrs- Arlen Kirk, of Spencer, visited her father, Thomas Don lin Saturday. Mr. Donlin was 81 years of age Saturday. Joe Rotherham, of Burling ton, la., came this week to spend a 2 week vacation with his mother, Mrs. John Rother ham, sr., and other relatives. Miss Mary Thompson, of Or chard. visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mns. Clarence Sauser. The Catholic Daughters of America held their annual May breakfast Sunday morning at St. Mary’s academy, About 65 attended. After the breakfast a program was presented for the ladies in the assembly room. Hanson-Stevens Rites at Chambers CHAMBERS — On Sunday, April 3t), at 2:30 p. m. gladiolis decorated the altar at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Chambers for the wedding of Elaine Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hanson, and Dean Stevens, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stevens. Rev. L. A. Dale officiated at the ceremony. Mrs. Lester Ot ter, of O’Neill, played the wed ding march and Mrs. J. W. Wal ters accompanied the soloist, Miss Betty Thorin. Candlelight ers were Larry Otter and Karlis Hanson, sister of the bride. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white slipper satin with a net yoke and bertha collar and a fitted bodice. The full skirt flowed into an aisle-wide train and fitted sleeves came to points at the wrists. Her fingertip veil j of illusion fell from a chantil- ! ly lace bonnet. She carried a white orchid a white .shower arrangement of ivy leaves and white streamers The matron-of-honor, Mrs. Roland Mahnke, of Sioux City, wore a lime green gown with white embroidered organza ov er taffetta and a white lace hat and mitts. She carried a colon ial bouquet of sweet peas and snapdragons. The bridegroom chose a gray suit for his wedding. The best man, Dale Dallegge, of Cham bers, a friend of the bridegroom, also wore a grey suit and both wore white carnations in lapels. Darwin Harley, of Chambers, and Roland Mahnke, of Sioux City, served as ushers. The bride’s mother chose a dress of navy chiffon and taffetta, wear ing a corsage of pink carna UUI1S. The bride is a graduate of a Sioux City high school and attended Wayne Teachers’ col lege for 3!6 years, teaching a term near Chambers. The bridegroom attended Chambers high school and ser ved 3 years in the navy and since his discharge he has been engaged in farming with his father. After a short wedding trip they will make their home on a farm south of Chambers. Members of the Sons of the Soil 4-H club met at the home of Roger Babutzka, on Sunday, April 30, Next regular meeting of Sim onson post 93, of the American Legion, will be on Thursday, May 18.
