It lb sim ilar to the one the Atkinson group has plannjd for Atkinson. Mrs. Ed Humpal, president of the Atkinson AVW club, said Monday, April 17, that they re ceived “much valuable and friendly advice." Those making the trip were Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Chace, Mr. and Mrs. Castner, Mr. and Mrs. B. II. Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Humpal, Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur Humpal, Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Gaylor, Mrs. Algot Ham merbutg, Charles Dvorak and Mrs. Robert Martens. There has been some indecis ion as to the location of the pro posed hospital. Plans had been made for a groundbreaking ceremony to be held on a city owned plot east of the depot, but these were abandoned. Many objections were filed, stating that this lo cation was too near oil storage tanks. Various other objections were given and finally a compromise measure was accepted to give each group a chance to gather • evidence of the merits of the 2 locations in question. The east plot was discarded. One group j agreed to engage a competent , architect to determine the suit ability of Memorial hall as a reconstructed building, and the possible cost of the conversion. The AVW club accepted the offer of E. C Weller’s gift of 2 ; residential lots plus a $500 con . tribution to be used in the pur chase of any other location. His offer included the privilege to sell the lots and use this money also. In other words, the offer was an outright gift to the AVW club as a compromise gesture. The lots are located about half t a block southwest of the public school. A meeting Monday, April 17, was expected to settle the issue, but the site for the new- hospi tal still is not determined. NOTICE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION The Holt County Board of Supervisors will meet as a Board of Equalization on May 1, 1950, for the purpose of hearing complaints and equalizing the assessment of property. They will be in session for at least three days and may be in ses sion as many as 50 days. RUTH HOFFMAN County Clerk Nimrods Harrassed By Duck Flights ATKNSON — Duck hunters have been harrassed, mentally, by large and numerous flights of ducks along the Elkhorn riv er in recent weeks. The ducks, teal and mallards, are so bold as to flutter down and investigate lowly barnyard mudpuddles. Observers say it is extremely unusual to see so many ducks on the water in an open space in this country and they did not light for a short rest and food. They have been swimming in water on hay meadows along the Elkhorn for many weeks now. As the surface overflow re cedes to the main channel the ducks go with it. Smaller groups are seen here and there most any time you chance to look. ---—_,i * The New Bread Mix Bread-ezy, 3-lb. package.50c --1- j ’ 25c Size Sanitary Drinking { Trend, pkg. _ 19c Cups, Pkg of 12 cups — 10c ____ . f ~ Gold Seal IGA Homo Glass Wax, quart can _ 93c Milk, 2 tall cans -23c IGA Home Style French Dressing, 5-pint bottle.23c j IGA Brand Moist | Cocoanui, 4-ox. can - 20c ----| IGA Toy Soap Pack Soap Grains, lge. sixe — 23c Ellis Tamales. 15Vi*o*. can 23c Delsev Tissue. 7 rolls--- $1 Whole Spiced Crabapples, 1-lb. jar.. 24c Fruits & Vegetables Red Ripe Tomatoes, cello tube-21c Fresh Green Top Carrots. 2 bunches 15c Fancy and Extra Fancy Winesap Apples. 2-lbs. 29c r Large Solid Head Lettuce, lb. - 13c Fresh Meats Swift Premium Skinless Franks. 1-lb. cello pkg. 49c Wilson's Corn King Sliced Bacon. 1-lb. pkg. 39c Swift's Large Bologn^i (Minced Ham), lb. 39c Loin End Pork Chops, lb. 39c SISTER M.
