Steer Calves Hit $28 At O’Neill Sale Six hundred hogs and 380 i head of cattle were sold at the Thursday, April 6, saie at the i O’Neill Livestock market here. The market was steady with , the prices at the March 30 sale. Top butchers weighing 200 to i 240 pounds cleared from $15.85 to $16.15; 240 to 270 pound but chers brought $15 50 while the heavier butchers sold on down to $15. Sows cleared from $13.75 to $14. Good quality calves and year lings were steady with the March 30 sale. Steer ca’ves sold from $25 to $28 and heifer cah ves brought $23 to $25 Cows hit $14.50 to $17. John Humphrey Dies at Norfolk CHAMBERS — Burial was was made in the Chambers cemetery Monday, April 3, for I John Humphrey, 56, of Nor folk, who died at a Norfolk hos pital Friday, March 31. Mr. Humphrey and family | were former residents of the Chambers community, where I they lived for several years. Survivors include: Widow, 2 sons and 2 daughters. One daughter preceded him in death. Public School Teachers Sign New Contracts— All eligible O’Neill public school teachers, reelected for the 1950-’51 school term, have signed and returned contracts submitted to them, according to Ira Moss, secretary of the board ! of education. They returned Saturday evening. At the O’Neill FHA chapter’s next meeting, Wednesday, Ap ril 5, the girls reported on the happenings of the convention. April 19 is an important date to all lettermen of Holt county. On that date they will be honor guests at an athletic banquet. Bill Glassford, foot ball coach at the University of Nebraska, and Gregg Mc Bride, will have a few words to say. and the OHS music department will play and sing college songs. Neil Dawes has announced the family 4-H fun night has been tentatively reset for Saturday, April 29. The annual event will be held at the American Legion auditor ium here. Originally, the fun night had been scheduled for March 18 However, road and adverse weather conditions forced a postponment. Rev. L. M. Hovda offi ciated assisted by Rev. W. H. Henning, of Spencer. Burial was in the Butte cemetery. Members Use Horse, Wagons, Tractors to Attend Meet— Some members of the Pleasant Day Project club used horse and wagon and tractors to get to the regular meeting held Wednesday, March 22. The meet ing was held at Mrs. Albert Stearns’. Mrs. Donald Hynes and Linda were guests. Rural electrification, Mrs. Stearns’ stone collection were demonstrated. Following a dis cussion of flowers games were played. Next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Wil liam Claussen. Try Country Club Golf Course— Probably the first golfers to try the O’Neill Country club links this year were Joe Mc Carville. jr., and Beryl Dam kroger. The pair shot 5 holes Sunday, April 2, and reported the sand greens to be in ‘’good" shape and the turf, although slightly soft, to be in “fair" con dition.
