Miss Jones Becomes Mrs. Hamilton I • _ Miss M%xine Jones, of Atkin son, and Claude Hamilton, jr,. were united in marriage Fri day, March 3 at the rectory of St. Patrick’s church at 2:30 p. m. Rev. Alex Onak performed the ceremony. Miss Leona Hamilton, the bridegroom’s sister, who was maid of honor, appeared in a dusty rose dress. Her accessor ies were black. Her corsage was of white carnations. Leo Jareske served as best man A reception at 3 o’clock was I held at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Jones, of Atkinson. Mr. Hamil ton’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hamilton, sr., of O’Neill. Mr. Hamilton is employed by his father. Cub Scouting Plans Announced— Monday evening a district meeting conducted by Ernest Endsworth, of Stuart, field ex ecutive of Boy Scouts, was held at the courthouse. Mr. Endsworth is conducting a school for leaders and others interested in cub scouting. Th# older stouts demonstrated an ♦ out aoor camping uip. y The next schooling session will be held Sunday, March 26, aft the American Legion club. It will be an afternoon and eve ning meeting. Den chiefs, den mothers, scout masters, cub masters, parents, committeemen are invited to attend. It is ex pected that there will be rep resentatives from Stuart and Ainsworth present. The first meeting in May, Monday, the 1st, will be county fair put on by the cub scouts. They are working on It now. All boys from 7V2 to 11 years are invited to join cub scout ing. Any scout can be contact ed at school to bring along new members. V Honored at Party— Leonard Lorenz was honored at a party Monday held in In man at the home of his mother, * Mrs. Fred Lorenz. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. vernon R. Lorenz and Mr. and Mrs. Mel vin E. Lorenz and son, all of O’Neill. _ Parly for Darrel Dexter— Darrel Dexter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dexter, celebrated his ninth birthday anniversary Saturday with a theatre party for five' guests. Afterward they they had dessert at the M and M. Sku-iborstad and son, Mr, and Mrs. Leon Beckwith, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Manson, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Marcellus and Miss M- Reimers were the friends who surprised Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Beckwith at a house warming Friday, March 3. Mrs. Niles is Feted— Mrs. Harvey F. Sawyer and Mrs. Lyle Green were hostess es Friday at a farwell party for Mrs- Louis Niles, who is mov ing to Madison. The eight guests presented the guest of honor a floor lamp. Refresh ments were served. Mrs. Shierk Entertains— Mrs. H. S. Moses and Mrs. D. C. Schaffer won member high and guest high at Merri Mix club Tuesday. Mrs. H, B. Hub bard won second high. Mrs. Fred O. Robertson was also a guest. The club met at the home of Mrs. Paul Shierk. Indian Discussion Is Held Wednesday— Women’s club held a meet ing Wednesday at the home of Mrs. J. L. Sherbahn. The theme was “American Indians.” Mrs. Mabel Henry was in charge. Authentic Indian articles were displayed by members. Eastern Star To Convene March 22— The new* date set for Opal Peck, of Rushvi le. Eastern Star supervisor, to attend a meet ing of Symphony Chapter 316 of the order of Eastern Star is Wednesday, March 22. Mrs. Abart To be Hostess— The Hi Jinx club plans to meet Friday at the home of Mrs. Kieth Abart. This meeting was postponed because of the blizzard. Martez Winners— Winners at Martez club Tues day at Evelyn Stannard’s home were Mrs. H. J. Birmingham, Mrs. M. J- Golden, Mrs. Ira Moss and Evelyn Stannard. Carpenter, coun ty chairman of the womens’ home demonstration council, and Mrs. Beryl Damkroger, Holt county home demonstra tion agent, spent Tuesday out lining the ensuing years’ activi ties for Holt clubs. Highlights of the year, ac cording to Mrs. Damkroger and Mrs. Carpenter, will be the an nual achievement day held in the fall of the year, a display at the Holt county fair and national home demonstration week, scheduled for May 1-6 i To Holt Leaders' Training Meetings— Leaders’ training meetings for Holt county home extension clubs will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, March 21 and 22, according to Mrs. Beryl Dam kroger, Holt county home dem onstration agent. The subject will be “Floor Coverings.’’ Tuesday, March 21, a meet ing will be hetld at the Atkin son public school and on Wed nesday, March 22, a similar meeting is scheduled to be held at the Holt county courthouse annex here. Celia Sidelights Miss Ruth Lindberg and Mrs. Mark Hendricks wanted to see what the snow was like so they walked up to see Mrs. Bernard Blackmore Saturday afternoon, March 11. Alex Frickel, along with oth- ] er Holt county supervisors, were invited to Peoria, 111., 1o go through the big Caterpillar factory there. He left Saturday, March 4, and arrived in Atkin son Thursday, March 9. His brother, Connie, flew him home from Atkinson last Thursday. Emil Colfax and son, Denton, rode horseback to visit the George Beck family and to see how the roads were Sunday aft ernoon, March 12. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Black more were dinner guests at the Mark Hendricks home Sunday, March 12. They walked the three-quarters of a mile to get there. Bernard Blackmore plowed out some hay stacks for Albert Johnson’s cattle Thursday, Mar. 7. He also plowed out some for Mark Hendricks Wednesday, March 8. Connie Frickel, jr., was a caller at the O. A. Hammerberg and Frank Kilmurry homes Monday morning, March 6. Mrs. Blanche Pease expects to go to Omaha Wednesday, March 15, to attend the Nebraska Press association meeting which will be held in Hotel Fontenelle Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Bernadine Miller, teacher at the Chaffin school, rode a horse after their mail Saturday, March 11. The Chaffins live 4% miles from their mailbox. Sullivan left for Kearney Sunday to attend a census taking school for a week Mrs. Robert E. Lowery and infant daughter were driven home from a Norfolk hospital last Thursday by her brother. Arlen and Mrs. Francis Yantzi. Cecil Grenier and D. F. Mc Dermott went to Gregory, S. D., Tuesday. Mrs. Loris Heinrich and chil dren, of Chamberlain, S. D., ar rived Sunday to visit her moth er, Mrs. Mary Crippen. Mrs. Mick Halverson and twin sons returned Wednesday, March 8, to their home in Bone steel, S. D., after having visit ed her mother, Mrs. Anna Ford and her sister, Mrs. Theodore Strong. Miss Kathryn McCarthy and Mrs. Loren A. Nelson left for Omaha Monday. They expect to return today (Thursday.) Mr. and Mrs. Levi Lower, of Valentine, were weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lower. Mi's. J. M. Kennedy, oi Ains worth, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D N. Loy Monday. Mi', and Mrs. Charles A. Rich ardson and John Brady, of Ains worth and Mre. Nina Richard son, of Fremont, were dinner guests last Thursday at the C. R. Hill home. They attended the basketball tournament. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Mullen, Mrs- Esther C. Harris and Mrs. Alice Cole, of Richman, Calif., attended a birthday annivers ary dinner at the John Conard home in Emimet. Mrs. P. W. Mc Ginnis, of Emmet, was the hon ored guests. Mr. and Mrs. John Hynes, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Hynes and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Nissen vis ited in Stuart Sunday. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell A. Johnson were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Osborn and sons and Mrs. Lettie Clevish. Mr. and Mrs. James Cav anaugh and Gene Cavanaugh wei|t to Omaha Sunday after noon. On their return, they met their sister, Mrs. Hugh McBride and Pat, of California in Fre mont and she returned with them. Paul E. Moseman, jr., a stu dent at the University of Ne braska, at Lincoln visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Moseman and girls over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nissen, of Petersburg, visited Mr. and Mrs- Claude Hamilton Monday. Dr. C. M- Eason and Dr. L. A. Burgess attended a telephonic lecture at a dental meeting in Norfolk Monday. Mr. and Mrs. James W. Roon ey left last Thursday for a sev eral day’s buisness trip in Om , aha. Sunday guests at the Gerald L. Wettleaufer home were his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Strong and family. E. F. Quinn returned last Thursday from Council Bluffs, la., where he visited for several days with his son and daughter in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Quinn. Mrs. Quinn returned with him after a 2 weeks visit with the younger Quinns. Two Mass Choirs Ai . Lutheran Hour Rally— The first rehearsals were held at Norfolk Sunday for the 2 mass choirs that will appear at the Lutheran hour rally to be staged in that city on April 16. The adult choir will be com posed of some 280 voices from the various congregations in the Norfolk area. More than 200 were present for the first re hearsal. Indications are that 360 will be in the children’s choir. About 250 were present Sunday. Each of the groups has been working on the numbers to be rendered and are supposed to have a working knowledge of the songs before they appear for finishing touches by the di rector, Henry Krenz. of Norfolk. Three more rehearsals will be held. March 19. March 26 and April 9, before the final concert on April 16.
