Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stand age, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Standage and family attended the golden wedding of Wayne Standage’s sister at Ravenna Sunday. A few friends gathered at the Lindsey home last Thursday evening for a going-away party for Mrs. Smith. The evening was spent with games and con tests sponsored bv Mrs. Blake Ott and Rae Dee Wickham. The group presented Mrs. Smith with a card table. Mr. ana Mrs. nrme jonnston entertained a number of friends at a card party Friday evening. Those present were the Lee Gilman, Rav Andersen, Howard Berrv Helen Pokornv, Steve c'ladek Frank Naehtman. and Bob Clifford families, and Mrs. Alice Prewitt. Mr. Andersen won high score for the men and Mrs. Pokornv for the ladies. Low score winners were Vernon Berrv and Edith Pokornv. The basketball game between Amelia and Bartlett was quite well attended. The score was 28-^2 in Bartlett’s favor. The meeting will be in session from June 24 to July 13, inclu sive. Atkinson Scouts are alerted now One of them will be selec ted on a merit system to go from here. The Scout himself will earn part of his expenses and the rest will be provided by the ; Scout committee which consists of W. W. Freeman, Lawrence Storjohan, R. O. Jarvis, F. J. Mancuso and C. E. Fred Karo, sr., and his son in law, August Brinkman, were in Norfolk Saturday on business. They returned the same day. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Berk heimer and family, of Long Pine, were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mil ton Andrus and daughter, Shar on. Mrs. Berkheimer and Mrs. Andrus were roomates at Chad ron State last summer. Mrs. Robert Cabage, of South Gate. Calif., came Monday, March 7, for a visit with rela tives. She will go to Sioux Falls, S. D., to visit 2ier father Ed Slay maker who is in Veterans hospital there. Mrs. Slaymaker ! Mrs. Cabage mother and Mrs. Perry Barnes, her aunt are in Sioux Falls also. Guests at the Clyde Davis home over the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bridges and daughter, of Orchard, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sparks and daughter, who left for their new home in Canon, Tex., Mon day. Mrs. Bridges and Mrs. Sparks are daughters of the Davis’s. Mrs. Ralph Snyder, of Day ton. O., came last week to stay | for sometime at the home of j her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hen ry Werner. Mrs. Werner is “very ill” at her home. Mrs. Victor Schneider had been stay ing with her but as the Schnei ders moved to their farm home March 1 she was unable to st^y longer. Mrs. Fred Dunn and Mrs. Elvon Chace accompanied the second team basketballers to Bassett Saturday, March 4, where the team beat Wood Lake :n their first game of the North Central second team tourna ment. This team is made up of players from the eighth, ninth and 10th grades. Dr. E- J. Mlinar, of Los An geles, Calif., William Mlinar, of Chester, Pa., and Albert Mlinar, of Van Nuys. Calif., were here last weekend to at tend the funeral of their moth er, Mrs. Fred Mlinar. Their father, Fred Mlinar, is still quite ill at his home here in Atkin son. Mr. and Mrs. Hans Bogue wend to Norfolk Monday on j business. Mr. and Mrs. John Warner and Gladys Mae Weller were supper guests at the Frank Hanel home Sunday, March 6. PURCHASE FARM ATKINSON — Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Butterfield have pur chased the Devere Fox farm, south and east of Atkinson, and expect to move there some time this spring. However, they intend to remodel the house so they will continue to live in town for the time being. They are not certain yet whether they will rent or sell their home here in Atkinson. Hold Birthday Party— ATKINSON—The WRC held its regular meeting at the mem orial hall Saturday, March 4, at which time plans were made for the birthday anniversary party for the oldest member of the corps, whose birthday was March 8. Ila Mae Johnson Feted— ATKINSON — Ila Mae John son was guest-of-honor Sun day, March 6, when Mrs. Emil Johnson gave a party for her and a group of other young people at the home of Mrs. John Carr. The event was IJa Mae’s r7th birithday anniver sary. Mrs. Snyder Is Honored— Mrs. Robert E. Larson, Mrs. Charles Cooper and Mrs. Vir gil Laursen were hostesses at the Larson home Friday at a stork shower in honor of Mrs. Dan Snyder. There were 12 guests present. 4-H Family Fun Night Scheduled This is national 4-H club week — March 4 to 12. Holt county’s annual 4-H family fun night celebration will be held on Saturday, March 18, at the American Le gion auditorium, starting at 8 p. m. County Agent A. Neil Dawes said many awards will be giv en and there will be “lots of fun and entertainment.” Entertainment will feature local talent from clubs through out the county. Four-H club officials urge parents as well as club members to attend the fun night. Many will organize for the fun night celebration. Some of the new clubs are: Nifty Needier®, of Page; Sons of the Soil, of O’ Neill; Stuart school district 58 and Chambers bird club. P-TA Will Meet Monday Evening— A regular meeting of the O’ Neill P-TA will be held Monday evening at 8 o’clock in the pub ic school band room. The Thes pians, under the direction of G. R. Nicholas, will present a one act play “The Marriage Propos al.” There will be election of offi cers for the coming year. Eastern Star Banquet Is Postponed— Opal Peck of Rushville, East ern Star supervisor, plans to visit Symphony chapter 316 of the Order of Eastern Star Wed nesday, March 15, for instruc tion .She also plans to be here in the evening for a meeting and banquet. This was to have been held today (Thursday) but was postponed because of the blizzard. Mrs. Stevens Is Feted— Mrs. Anita Ellston. Mrs. Har vey F. Sawyer and Mrs. Robert Tomlinson were hostess at a bridal shower last Thursday in was held at the lounge of the honor of Mrs. Earl Stevens. It American Legion hall. There were 48 guests. Refreshments were served. Mrs. McIntosh Is Hostess— Mrs. Robert E. Evans was honored at a stork shower Fri day, February 24, given by Mrs. William W.
