Climax P-TA Meet With Square Dance Mrs. Harry Ressel, vice-pres ident, presided over the Parent Teachers association meeting Monday night at which time a nominating committee was elect ed to select new officers. Elected were: Mr. Ressel, Mrs. Neil Dawes and Mrs. Art Dexter. The group voted to join in a silver march campaign, funds from which will be used tow ' ard erecting a national P-TA building in Chicago, 111. In charge of the program for the evening were Miss Rose mary Vondracek and Ira George. There wras a Cornet solo by Ted Lindberg; a number by the cornet trio, composed of Eddie Bridges, Ted Lindberg and Duane Booth: a vocal solo by John Bowen and 2 numbers by the mixed quartet, composed of Lois Harder, Phyllis Harmon, John Bowen and Claude Cole. Later the group square danc ed after which refreshments were served. Corkles Are Hosts Sunday— Mr. and Mrs. James M. Cork le were hosts at a family din ner Sunday. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Schaaf, of Atkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hahn, of Pierce, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hansen, of Stanton, and Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Hansen and Joseph, of O’Neill. Works On New Course of Study for State— Miss Elja McCullough, Holt county superintendent of schools, was called to Lincoln by the state superintendent to work on the new social science course of study for eighth grade. Miss McCullough left Sunday. Grandmother of F. O. Heerman Passes— Fred O. Heerman received word that his grandmother, Mrs. John Lorenz, of Alexan dria, Minn., passed away Mon day evening. She had broken her hip in a fall. Young O'Neillite f Promoted to Manager— James Golden, of Omaha, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Golden, has been promoted to manager of a finance office m Atchison, Kans. Mrs. Golden and children plan to join him as soon as housing is secured. Mrs. Hiatt Entertains Her Club— Mrs. Arlo A. Hiatt was host ess Wednesday, February 22, the MM club. High score was won by Mrs. John Conard, of Emmet. The all-cut prizes were won by Mrs. Esther C. Harris and Mrs. H. L. Lindberg. Mesdames Lindberg and Robertson Are Winners— Merri Mix club met Tuesday with Mrs. C. W. Porter at a 1:30 dessert luncheon. Winners at bridge were Mrs. H. L. Lind berg. high, and Mrs. Fred O. Robertson, guest high. Country Club Party Held Wednesday— Miss Ruth Case and Mrs. Guy Cole, of Emmet, were hostesses Wednesday at the fortnightly luncheon bridge party given by Country club members and their guests._ Ellen Lohaus Is 8-Years-Old— Ellen Lohaus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Lohaus, celebrated her eighth birthday anniversary Sunday at a party for 11 little guests. Up-and-At-It Picks New Officers— The Up-and-At-It 4-H club met Sunday, February 26, at the home of La Donna McNulty to reorganize for the year. Ten members joined. New officers elected were: Alice Whaly, president; Melba Dobrovalney, vice - president: Doris Pierson, secretary and treasurer; Patty Pierson, news reporter; Twila Whaley, leader. Projects were selected for the coming year. Next meeting will be held March 12 at the Pierson home. Mrs. McNulty served lunch at the close of the meeting.—By Patty Pierson, reporter. The club projects for this year are: “Learning to Be a Homemaker” and “Hows and Whvs for Young Cooks.” Next meeting will be held March 21 at the home of Mrs. Johnson. Elkhorn Club Meets With Mrs. Schultz— The Elkhorn Project club met at the home of Mrs. Florence Schultz Friday, February 17, with 11 members present. Mrs. Frank Grenier was as sisting hostess. Mrs. Bob Cook, leader A, pre sented the lesson, “How to Sew A Zipper." Next regular meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Dave Loy on March 14. FFA Sponsors High School Parly— Future Farmers of America •club, under the direction of Beryl Gerdes sponsored a party for all public high school classes Wednesday night at the school. Dancing, games were on the entertainment agenda and refreshments were served near the end of the evening. Scouts Going lo Work Scrapbooks— The Pine Tree patrol of Boy Scouts met Monday at the home of James La Frenz. Next meeting will be held Monday after school at the home of Jimmy Rodman, where Lie Scouts are going to work on scrap books. Enjoy Dancing— Mr. and Mrs. Norman Med calf' were hosts at a square dancing party held Saturday at their home.
