Talent Night Set For March 25— The regular monthly meeting if the Eagle Creek 4-H club met Sunday, February 26, at the home of Betty Lou Curran. After a covered dish luncheon, the meeting was called to order by the president, Doris Stems. The roll call was a suggestion by each member for future roll calls. Some good suggestions were made. The club decided to have its talent night program and box social on Saturday eve ning, March 25, at the Benson schoolhouse, district 224. It was decided to have a prac Mce on Sunday afternoon, March 19. at the schoolhouse. .Tanet Hull gave her report on ‘'Nebraska’s Wild Life and Nat ural Resources,” which she had riven at the Dublic speaking contest in O’Neill. Hixson's Bull 3d In Bassett Sale— CHAMBERS — Many Here ford breeders of the Chambers community were in Bassett Sat urday to attend the Hereford sale and show. Among those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Whitaker, C. V. Robert | son. Elwyn Robertson, George i Rowse, Ray Hoffman, Vern I Sageser, Vernon Hixson, Ed Eisenhauer and C. F. Small and son. The grand champion bull was consigned by Ralph Prill and sons, of Page and was bought by Art Rowse and son, of Bur well, for $1,700. Harry Van Horn, of Page, showed the reserve champion. Vernon Hixson, of Chambers, sold the third bull for $390. Miss Rasmussen Feted At Pre-Nuptial Shower— CHAMBERS — A pre-nuptial shower honoring Miss Geneva Rasmussen was held Saturday afternoon at the home Mrs. Leo Adams. A program of songs was presented. The following took part: Jeanenne Gibson, Carolyn Adams, Lyas Tange man, Louanne Eisenhauer and Ruth Adams. The ladies of the Baptist mis sionary society served lunch. Miss Rasmussen’s marriage will take place in May to a Denver, Colo., man. She is em ployed in Denver. Other Chambers News Mr. and Mrs. William Jutfce held a farm sale at their home northeast of town Wednesday, February 22. It is reported that the crowd was one of the lar gest to attend a public sale in this community. The prices re ceived were “very satisfactory.” Col. Eld. Thorin, of Chaimbers, was the auctioneer. The Luth eran Ladies Aid served the lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Jutte mov ed the next day to the new home they have purchased in Chambers. Mr. and Mrs. Ber nard Hoffman and daughter, Donnis, who have been living in the house the Juttes pur chased moved FYiday to the Jutte farm. Mrs. Roy Howard and son, Robert Wallace, of Scottsbluff, came Tuesday, February 21, to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wintermote and other rel atives. They went fram here to Lincoln to visit a few days be fore going on to Stockton, Calif., to join her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Bayne Grubb and children moved the first of the week to the place owned >■ - by Mrs. Anna Albers, 10 miles southeast of Chambers, former ly occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hixon and sons. Mr. and Mrs C. E. Brittell and Dew ey, of Neligh, will move to the place vacated by the Grubb family, which they purchased some time ago They expect to move this week. The Hixon family is moving to Imperial where they will be employed on a ranch. A new safe was installed last week in the office of the Ford Motor Co. Mrs. Cerney and son, Leon ard Cerney, of Stanton, spent the weekend with the former’s daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolf Brockman. Mr and Mrs. Ed Pavel and family spent Sunday evening in the Jake Hoerle home. The American Legion auxil iary will hold its regular meet ing Friday evening, March 3, at the Legion hall. A kitchen shower has been planned for the evening Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Miller and son, Glen, drove to Page Sunday where they visited in the Earl Parks home Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Brock man and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Miller and Glen enjoyed ice cream at the Will Jutte home in Chambers Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Turner visited at the H. W. Tomlinson home in O’Neill Sunday. Mrs. A. A. Walter spent the ! weekend with her daughter ! and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jim mie Kirkland, at Atkinson. The American Legion Auxil iary presented a 1-act play and a patriotic pageant at the town hall Wednesday night, Febru ary 22. It was well attended. The proceeds amounted to over $100. The Lone Tree Telephone company held a meeting at the Chambers central office Satur day afternoon, February 25. New doors were put in the front of the Chambers Metho dist church last week, which greatly improves the appear ence of the church. Chas. Spann did the work. A group of young people of the Methodist Youth Fellow ship attended a subdistrict mid winter spiritual life retreat at O’Neill Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Waldo attended the funeral of her grandmother, Mrs. S e d e 1 i a Johnson, in Atkinson Saturday. Their children stayed with their aunt, Mrs. Kenneth Werner. Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Cooper attended the funeral services for Mrs. Johnson in Atkinson Saturday. Ned Frady left Saturday for Mason City, la., where he en tered a class in auctioneering. Visit Melenas— Last Thursday Mrs. Bessie Kreycik and son, Otto, of Nio brara, and Mrs Ed Vach, of Verdelle, visited Mr and Mrs. C. E. Melena. Mrs. Abari Hostess— The Hi Jinx club plan to meet Friday, March 10, at the home of Mrs. Kieth Abart. Lone 9oy in First Year Sewing Class— The 212 South Fork club met at the Willie Ermer home Fri day evening, February 24. The meeting was called to order by the president, Joellyn Backus. The roll call was answered by naming a bird telling whether it was useful or harmful. Fif teen members w'ere present and 2 new members w'ere voted in. The pledge was repeated and wre sang songs. Donald and Marvin Strong are feeding baby beeves. Eleven members are taking the Stock er - feeder project. Raymond Strong. Gale Holcomb. Joellyn Backus and Joe Hoffman are carrying garden projects. Ail of the girls and one boy are work ing on first year sewing. Gary and Gale Holcomb have purebred Hereford heifers in the breeding heifers project. Le Roy Holcomb leads the stocker feeder project. Joellyn Backus conducted the sewing class. Mrs. Holcomb held the garden project. After the meeting we played games. Mrs. Ermer ser ved a nice lunch of sandwiches, cake and cocoa.
