Brunch Honors Holiday Visitors— Mrs. H. J. Hammond and her daughter, Mrs. Charles E. Chace, of Atkinson, entertained last Thursday at a “brunch" in hon of four out-of-town visitors. They were: Mrs. W. J. Grady, of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. George Hammond, of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. J. F. Grady, of Washing ton, D. C., and Mrs. W. H. Bow ker, of McCook. There were 24 ladies pre sent. Anspach Are Hosts— New Year’s day, Mr. and Mrs. Harden Anspach entertained a group of friends at dinner. Their guests were: Mr. and Mrs. John Conard and Mary Lou and Mrs. Georgia McGin nis, of Emmet; Mr. and Mrs. R. M. South, of Inman, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clements' and son, Robert. The Anspach’s son, Kieth, returned to Nor folk Monday after visiting his parents for three days. Picnic Along River— Five of the small fry feeling Spring in the air, Sunday went down the Elkhorn river to cook their supper. The young ad venturers were: George Fuller, Betty and Frank Fetrow, John O’Sullivan amd Che(rri Ann Knepper Frank wanted to use his Boy Scout cooking equip ment, so they cooked eggs and bacon. Miss Gallagher Is Hostess— Miss Mary Ann Gallagher was hostess at a dinner party for five friends who came home from various schools for the holidays. Miss Gallagher, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Gallagher, is a student nurse at St. Catherine’s school of nurs ing in Omaha. Mesdames Moses and Porter Are Winners— Merri Mix club met Tuesday at the home of Mrs. A B. Hub bard. Winners were: Mrs. H. S. Moses, high, and Mrs. C. W. Porter, second high. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, January 17, at the home of Mrs. H. L. Lindberg. Family Reunion On New Year's Day— Mr. and ^Mrs. Robert Kurtz entertained at a family reunion on New Year’s day. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Brown, and daughters, of Grand Island; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Brown, of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brown and Mrs. Everett Brown. Meet for Breakfast— A breakfast was given Sun day morning for 16 members of the college set by Miss Betty Gallagher. Miss Gallagher, daughter of the Edward M. Gal laghers, is a student at $he Uni versity of Nebraska at Lincoln. Betty Schultz Is 9-Years-Old— Betty Lou Schultz, daughter of Mrs. Florence Schultz, cele brated her ninth birthday an niversary Sunday at a party at her home for eight guests. Af ter games, the guests had ice cream and cake for dessert. Little Miss Curran Entertains— Betty Lou Curran, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Cur ran, was 9-years-old last Thurs day. Nine little guests gather ed at the Dale Curran home. After games, ice cream and cake were served. Party at Fetrows— Fetrows— Betty Fetrow, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Fetrow, was 10-years-old Sat urday. She entertained at a theatre party for 14 guests. Dessert was the traditional ice cream and cake. Lube ns Entertain— Mr. and Mrs. William Luben were hosts at a New Year’s din ner. Their guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lubejj and son, of Atkinson; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bowen and boys, of Page, and Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Russ. Double Celebration At Cavanaugh's— Miss La Vonne Riley and Quentin Cavanaugh celebrated their birthday anniversaries at a party Sunday evening, at the Cavanaugh home. There were 27 guests. Donna Crabb Feted— Miss Donna Crabb celebrated her 16th birthday anniversary Saturday at a party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emmet Crabb. There were 16 guests. Family Dinner— Mr and Mrs. Edward Camp bell were hosts at a family din ner party Sunday. Their guests, were the Frank FVoelich and William J. Froelich families. Friends Gather At Artus Home— Mr. and Mrs. William Artus were hosts at a New Year’s party at their home. Miss Froelich Hostess— Miss Nancy Froelich enter tained at a New Year’s party for members o*f the college set. MRS DERALD G. MAY Couple Weds in Chihuahua, Mexico The wedding of Miss Eliza beth Louise Harris, of O’Neill, and Deraid Glen May. of Goth enberg, took place Wednesday, November 30, at La Trinidad Methodist church in Chihuahua, Mexico. Dr. Juan Pascoe, first Metho dist bishop of Mexico, performed the double - ring ceremony at 6 o’clock before an altar decorated with lilies and green fern. Senor Francisco Oepedia, voical director of Pal more college, sang ‘The Lords Prayer" in Spanish. He was accompahied by Miss Lucille Vail, organist and music instru tor at Centro Christiano in Chi huahua The bride, given in marriage by Rev. L. B. Newberry, retir ed missionary, wore a gown of ivory slipper satin with a fitted bodice, long cuffed sleeves, and a winged collar. The skirt fell into an aisle-wide train. Her fingertip veil of illusion was held in place by a crown of ir ridescant orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of lillies. Mr. May is' a student at the Univerhity of Nebraska where he is a member of Delta Upsil on fraternity. The couple returned to Lin coln December 10. The Mays are residing at 2100 South 33rd Street. Mrs- May 13 a graduate irom O’Neill high school with the class of 1944. She is' a graduate of the Methodist hospital school of nursing at Sioux City and has been attending the Univer sity of Nebraska. Last year she won the Linda Richards' award for “outstanding professional achievement.” Linda Richards was the first registered nurse | in the U. S. Home Extension Meeting Held— Sixteen members of the O’ Neill home extension clubs met Wednesday in the assembly room of the county courthouse here with Mrs. Beryl Damkro ger, Holt county home exten sion agent. A covered dish luncheon was served. Tuesday a home extension meeting was cancelled due to road conditions and snow. A meeting will be held today (Thursday) at the home of Mrs. Fred Zink at Stuart for home extension leaders in that area Return from Trip— Mr. and Mrs. A. Neil Dawes returned Tuesday after spend ing Sunday and Monday in Lin coln and Omaha. Sunday they visited Mrs. Dawes’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Swan, at Lincoln, and then Monday visited Mr. Dawes’ mother, Mrs. A. E. Dawes, at Osceola. Scene of Parly— Linda Haynes celebrated her ninth birthday anniversary Wednesday, December 28. Ten little girls attended the party. After games, ice cream, cake and cup cakes were served. Eastern Stars To Install Officers— Synthony chapter 316 of the Eastern Star will meet pn Thursday, January 12, to install the new 1950 officers. O'Donnell's Entertain— Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. O’ Donnell entertained 21 guests at a dinner at the M & M cafe last Thursday evening. O'NEILL NEWS • The Masses Mary Joann Hynes, Dorothy Her and Gayle ; Widtfeldt returned Tuesday to' resume their studies at Briar cliff college in Sioux City. Miss Rosemary Vondracek, vocal music supervisor at the O’Neill pub ic school, returned Monday from Verdigre, where ihe spent the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Deraid May, of Lincoln, visited Mrs. May's mother, Mrs. Esther C. Harris, irom Saturday until Monday. Mrs. May is the former Eliza beth Harris. James Bridges, son of Mrs. Alice Bridges, left with Mr. and Mrs. May. He is a stu dent at Nebraska Wesleyan un iversity. Guy Harris left Tues day to resume his studies' at Nebraska Wesleyan. William Miller, of Lincoln, spent his Christmas vacation visiting Miss Mary Horiskey and M. H. Horiskey. James Anaerson, oi Lancoin, was a houseguest at the Arlo A. Hiatt home from Sunday un til Tuesday. Gordon Hiatt, who had visited his parents for the holidays, returned to Loup City Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Gatz ex ! pect to depart Saturday for a months’ stay in California. Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fuller and {son took Mrs. La Verne Rob I ertson and children to Thed ford Monday. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Diehlman returned Monday from Abi lene, Tex., after visiting there for the Christmas holidays. They were gone 14 days. Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Gerdes and family returned Monday from Gothemberg and Grafton where they visited during the holidays. They were guests at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Gerdes in Gothenburg and in Grafton. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Otte. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Halva visited relatives in Verdigre for New Year’s. Mr. and Mrs. George Ham mond and sons left Tuesday for their home in St. Louis, Mo., after having visited relatives for the holiday, including his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Hammond. The Hammond’s daughter, Mrs. Williaim H. Bow ker, Mr. Bowker and family, left Monday for their home in MicCook after a holiday visit. Sr. M. Rose Marie’s mother, Mrs. Miller, of Basin, Wyo., is spending the holidays here. Capt. and Mrs. Thomas Mann, and son, Jack, of Denver, Colo., left Monday after having visit ed Mr. and Mrs. J. B.
