UNIFIED SERVICES
PROVE SUCCESS
Rev. O. C. Graff Started
New Procedure
November 6
ATKINSON — Unified ser
I vices at the Presbyterian church
here have proved a success, ac
cording to members of the con
gregation.
Rev. Orin C. Graff, pastor of
the Atkinson, Stuart and Cleve
land Presbyterian churches, es
tablished the new procedure
November 6 on a three-months’
trial basis.
The service combines morn
ing worship and Sunday
school into a single continu
ous worship service of the
church and correlates them in
to the home worship of the
families.
Within the three months’ trial
period, many members of the
congregation have praise for I
the new type of services and
hope that it continues.
Reverend Graff originated a
similar type of service at Row
ley, la., where it is still carried
on with success.
In order for the young mar
ried couples to be free at the j
unified services, a nursery for
children under five years of age I
has been established.
■ The nursery in the basement j
of the church, is fully equipped j
with facilities and play equip- !
ment suitable to small children
and babies. Mrs. Oliver Shane,
supervisor, arranges for an adult
to be on hand to look after the
little ones.
Reverend Graff points out that
it is not that the children are
not welcome at the services, but
he feels that young parents, es
pecially, need the guidance and
counsel found in the service and
he wishes to make it possible for
them to be free to get the help
they seek.
The Presbyterian men’s coun
cil recently organized has prov
ed a success also. The council
meets once a month at which
time they take care of any mi
nor repairs on the church or
manse, have a sociable good
time and serve their own lunch.
The secretary, E. V, Hic
kok, reports an average at
tendance so far of 15 men. At
the meeting held Monday,
each member brought a seal
ed question that was placed in
a box provided for them.
The pastor and the members
urge anyone interested to come
and join in these new endeavors.
The same program is being
carried out in the Presbyterian
churches at Stuart and Cleve
land where Reverend Graff al
so serves.
