Exchange Vows
PAGE — The Methodist
church at Page was the scene
of a beautiful nuptial cere
mony uniting of Miss Lolajean
Ickes, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Neven Ickes, of Page,
and Soren Sorensen jr.. Son
of Mr. and Mrs. Soren Soren
sen, of Page. The event took
place 3 o’clock Sunday after
noon. July 31.
Rev. T. O. Brownfield, pas
tor of the church officiated
with the double-ring cere
mony.
The altar was decorated with
two seven-branch candelbra
and baskets of gladioli.
Miss Mildred Haynes, o f
Denton, in a fuschia taffeta
gown, played a 10 minute pi- j
ano prelude, the wedding
marches and accompanied Miss
Barbara Trowbridge, who sang
“Because” and “O, Promise
me.” The latter’s gown was
blue taffeta.
Lionel Ickes and Robert Sor
ensen, brothers of the bride
and bridegroom, lighted the
tapers.
The bride, given in marri
age by her father, wore a
white slipper satin gown with
net yoke and fitted bodice. The
long sleeves coming to a point
at the wrists and the skirt ex
tending into a long train. The
finger-tip veil was edged with
lace and fell from a beaded
tiara. Her arm bouquet was
white gladioli.
Miss Naomi Steinberg was
bridesmaid, wearing a pink
gown fashioned with fitted bo
dice short puffed sleeves and a
full skirt and matching veil
and mitts. Her arm bouque
was pink gladioli.
Kay Nissen, niece of the
bridegroom, was flower girl,
and wore a frock of orchid
sheer. Dennis Ickes, brother of
the bride, carried the rings on
a satin pillow,
Neven Ickes, jr., brother of the
bride was the bridegroom’s at
tendant and the ushers were
Richard Holliday and Richard
Trowbridge.
Following the wedding, a ;
reception was held in the1
church parlors. The bride’s
table was beautifully decora
ted. It was centered by a three
-tiered wedding cake decora
ted with a minature bride and
bridegroom and wedding bell
and was flanked by tapers.
The reception was sponsored
by the WSCS. Misses Char
lene Park, Lois Heiss, Tillie
Bartos, Shirley Sorensen, La
vonne Albright and Jeanmn
Waring served the guests.
Miss Sybil Ickes had charge
of the guest book and Miss
Naomi Steinberg the gift book.
The bride’s mother wore a
green print bemberg dress with
black accessories and a cor
sage of pink flowers. The
bridegroom’s mother wore a.
orchid dress with matching ac
cessories and a corsage of or
chid flowers.
The bride is a graduate of
the Page high school, class of
1949. She attended Wayne
teachers college the Summer
following her graduation and
has taught for two years in
rural school North of Page.
The bridegroom graduated
from the Page school with
the class of 1944. He was in
service after his graduationj
and spent one year in the Pa
cific area. After returning home
his occupation has been farm- !
ing.
After a short honeymoon, |

make their home on the Mer
wyn French farm West of !
Page, formerly known as the
James Murphy farm.

Miss Veich Is
Guest of Honor
Miss Doris Smith and Mrs.
Deraid Smith were hostesses
Friday at a miscellaneeous
shower in honor of Miss Neldo
Veich. It was held at the home
of Miss Doris’ parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Mike A. Smith. Miss Ve
will be married the last week
in September to Ray Smith.
Silver Star Sisters
In Demonstrations
CHAMBERS—Silver Star 4
H club met Friday, July 22,
at the home of Mary and Jac
quelin Taggart. All but two
members were present. There
was no lesson but the girls
practiced on demonstrations.
Refreshments of potato sal
ad, weiners and a drink were
served by the hostesses.
Next meeting will be Thurs
day, August 4, at the home of
Marilyn Walters.

weeks in the Roth home.
