AT THE
END OF
THE DAY
How nice il is to relax at
home after a hard day’s
work . . . just open up the
evening paper ... or turn
on the radio ... with Mom
not reminding you of yard
or garden work to he done.
You’re proud of your fam
ily . . . proud to he a part
of your community.
Your tavern keeper is no
different. He may have
more difficult problems
than many businessmen—
he may get home later—
but he gets the same enjoy
ment from his home life
... he takes the same pride
in being a part of the com
munity.
He is worth knowing belter.

HOLT COUNTY
EDUCATIONAL NOTES
By Elja McCullough
County Superintendent
The state teachers’ examina
tion date is Saturday, July 16.
This is the last time they will
be given because a new certifi
cation law goes into effect Aug
ust 27,1949. These examinations
will be given in the public high
school assembly room in O’Neill,
beginning at 8 a. in.
All high school pupils, who
are residents of rural districts
or districts which do not pro
vide high school facilities, are
eligible for free high school tu
ition.
It is the responsibility of
parents or guardians to make
application for this tuition by
.July 1 each year to the county
superintendent of the county in
which they reside. By law, the
county superintendent must
have these applications on file
in order to request the required
levy to be made by the county
board of supervisors. Form cards
for such application are sent to
superintendents of each public
high school for distribution to
rural pupils in the Spring.
This distribution is done for
the convenience of pupils and
their parents but many times
applications are neglected un
til later in the year and some
times cannot be allowed because
the money is not available for
them. Consequently it is wise
to be on time.
