evening, April 13. Mr. and Mrs.
John Watson were hosts and a
very enjoyable evening was
spent. Mr. and Mrs. Watson
served a delicious lunch. The
next meeting will be April 26
with Mr. and Mrs. Charley Bei
lin and Rev. and Mrs. V. R. Bell
entertaining.
The Senior MYF will go to
Norfolk next Sunday afternoon
and evening for a district rally.
Martha Circle will meet Fri
day afternoon, April 22, with
Mrs. Ralph Leidy.
The junior choir will practice
Tuesday after school. We will
have our last quarterly confer
ence Wednesday, May 4 with a
congregational supper at 6:30 p.
m. at which Kenneth Myers, of
Broken Bow, will be guest
speaker. The conference will
convene at 8:30 o’clock. Bring
a covered dish and coffee will
be furnished.
The district conference for
the ministers and the WSCS will
be held May 4 at Norfolk, be
ginning at 10 o’clock in the
morning and closing at 3:30 p.

bers of the Lutheran Women’s
Missionary league met with Mrs.
J. W. Walter on Thursday, Ap
ril 14. Several visitors also were

Rev. L. A. Dale read an article
on China. The topic for discus
sion. led by Reverend Dale, was
“Our Teen Agers of Today.”
The business meeting was
conducted by the president, Mrs.
L. O. Lenz.
Mrs. Dale was presented with
a gift of money for a stork show
er by the group. ,

He never seems to have the time to walk, so he runs. Jackie’s
mother also has to run to keep him out of mischief. James
Fredrick Hoppe, (right), three year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Hoppe, lives on a farm Northeast of Emmet. He has blonde
hair and blue eyes. In 1948 James was chosen “King of Toy
land” in a babv contest sponsored by the Atkinson Whisker
club. His ambition is doing his daddy’s chores or driving the
tractor. James will be four in June, but he can recite many
nursery rhymes and can spell his own name.

degree. Her brother, Jack, is a
student at the Illinois school of
chiropody in Chicago. They live
at 1036 North Dearborn, Lansing
apartments.
