Quake Area
AMELIA—Relatives have re
ceived word from Mrs. Elmer
Enbody, who was in the Pacific
Northwest earthquake area, say
ing that the Enbodys were “all
right."
She said that she had a bucket
of water sitting in the middle of
the table and it rocked back and
forth so many times there was
only about a quart of water left
in the pail when the tremors
closed.

home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank

Connie Gilman spent Satur

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Sybrant,
of Casper, Wyo., visited their
brothers, Oscar and Edgar Pet
erson, over the weekend. They
had been at Bassett to attend
the 100th birthday anniversary
of Mr. Sybrant’s grandmother.
Mr, and Mrs. Dick Doolittle
have purchased the old Enbody
house from Lee Gilman. They
expect to tear it down and re
build it on the Tom Doolittle,
sr., farm.
Lee Sammons went to Atkin
son by plane last week where
he is doing carpenter work. The
roads were almost impassable by
car. . , . ,
Friends have received word of
the recent marriage of Rev. Wes
ley Hankins, former pastor of
the Bethany Free Methodist
church, South of Amelia, He
now lives at Kearney.
Silas Johnston recently pur
chased the O’Donnell place,
Southeast of Atkinson, and plan
ned to move there as soon as
possible.
Mrs. Howard Berry visited
with Mrs. Fannie Riley one day
last week.
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith were
Atkinson business callers Sat
urday. Cap Withers took charge
of the cream station while they
were gone.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Travers
and Harold and Mrs. Viola Trav
ers visited at Arthur Hiatt’s on
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Berry
and family were Easter dinner
guests at Ray Anderson’s.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Seibken
and daughter, of Sidney, visit
ed his mother, Mrs. James La
Foy, Sunday.

in Atkinson where E. A. White
consulted Dr. Douglas.

Neill Wednesday, April 13, to

man, who is ill at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Emmett Carr.

The Progressive club met at
the home of Mrs. Russell Hip
kie on Thursday, April 14, with
eight members present. It was
decided to hold a party at the
Cleveland church basement on
Wednesday evening, April 27,
and dispose of the quilt at that
time. Mrs. Elmer Allyn won
the contest conducted by the
