Drag Road Only to
Have Efforts Undone
CHAMBERS — Some of the;
country roads were sufficiently I
dry by Friday that they could
be worked.
Several of the men in the Val- !
lev Center community disced,
harrowed and dragged the road
three miles West of town and got '
it in "good” condition, only to
have the Saturday rain put it j
back in the same shape it was
before. i
In spite of the mud, the fol
lowing people pulled their cars
to the highway and got out on
Saturday: Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Wondersee, Mr and Mrs. H. C.
Walter and family, Mr. and Mrs.
E. R. Carpenter.

CHAMBERS — The Winona
Rebekah lodge of Chambers met
April 8. Nineteen members were
present.
Following the business meet
ing, refreshments were served i
by Mrs. Valo Edwards, Mrs. La
vina Grimes, Mrs. Cora Wyant
and Mrs. Loa Hubbard, who are
the serving committee.
Zella Rosenberg, assembly
vice-president, will meet with
the lodge at a special meeting to
be held Thursday, April 21, at 2
p. m.
Hear Missionary Story —
CHAMBERS — The Women’s 1
society of Christian Service met 1
Wednesday afternoon, April 6, 1
at the home of Mrs. Leo T.
Adams. Mrs. Robert Turner gave ,
a report on "Adrift,” a story of
a missionary during the late 1
war. Twelve members were
present.
Refreshments were served by I
the hostess at the close of the
meeting. The next meeting will
be held at the home of Mrs.
Gilbert on Thursday, April 21.
Visit Lincoln —
CHAMBERS- Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Roth and Mary Jo went to
Columbus Sunday, April 3, and
stayed there overnight at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Roth. Mr. and Mrs. Roth went
on to Lincoln the next morning
to attend a convention. Mary Jo
remained in Columbus with Mr.
and Mrs. Albert Gegax and all
returned home Wednesday eve

CHAMBERS — The American
Legion auxiliary post 320 met on
Friday evening at the home of
Mrs Richard Smith. Sixteen
persons were present.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs Vernon
Cooper on the first Friday of

Rose Mary Babl Is President —
Pupils and parents of district
90 met at the school recently
for the purpose of organizing a
4-H club. Officers were elected
as follows:

leader; Mrs. James Conway

Mr. Dawes, the county agent

discussed different projects. Wt
enjoyed this very much.
After the meeting a lunch
consisting of cake, coffee and
sandwiches, was served by the
parents.

Mr. Dohman is a brother of the

Kans., went to Ord Friday, Ap
ril 8, to visit her sisters there

later on their way home after
attending the funeral services
