Season’s Largest Run
Sells Readily at
Stronger Prices
Over 2,000 Head Sold at Atkin

hundred; market fully 25 to 35
cents up with many new sea
son's highs on all classes.
The heaviest run of cattle
since last November was sold at
the Atkinson Livestock Market
Tuesday. With over 2,000 head
of cattle on sale, quality of
which was easily the best of
the year, buyers were present
in numbers from five states, to
bid on them.
Competition was keen and
with the market active and mov
ing along at a rapid rate sel
ling was completed by 9:30 p
m.
Many straight carloads were
sold. A 245-head consignment
from the Bob Clifford ranch
were the class of the auction, 140
head of yearling steers carrying
his brand sold at prices in car
load lots ranging from $25.60 to
$26.85 a hundred setting new
season's highs for the current
vear.
A 58-head consignment of
yearling heifers reached $26.25 a
nundred. All quality yearling
steers sold in a price range of '
$24.50 to $26 a hundred, while
medium to good kinds cleared
at $22 to $24. Yearling heifers i
sold mostly between $23.50 and
$25 a hundred. Two-year-old
heifers from $21 to $23 a bun
dled, and two-year-old steers at
$23.50 to $24.50 a hundred.
Demand was broad for breed
ing stock at prices from $165 to
$200 a head for cows. Canners,
cutters, bulls and butcher cattle
looked 50 cents up for the week.
A consignment of 13 registered
Hereford breeding bulls from
the Dwight Marts herd, at Bone
steel, S. D., averaged $355 a
head. The hog run was light with
but 300 on sale. Top butchers
reached $21.50 with the bulk at
2$0.50 to $21 40 a hundred. Sows
from $15.00 to $16.75 a hundred.
