Make Usual Rounds
STAR — Hallowe’en prank
sters made the usual rounds

serious damage was reported.

Verna and Mabel attended the
state teachers’ convention. The
Millers visited their son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Vince Cunningham, and Mabel
visited her aunt, Mrs. Wallace
Lundeen, and family while
there. They returned home

Nieman is able to be “up and
around” again after a serious

has been ill at her home the
past week, but is “improving.”

gency appendicitis operation
at the Salem general hospital
at Salem, Ore., last Thursday,
October 28. Edward is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Grimes,
of Chambers. . . James Sheedy.

eye injury one day last week
w,hen hit by a stick. . . . Mr.
and Mrs. William Reninger
drove to Omaha Friday and
brought her father, Mr. Reed
Grubb, home from the Clark
son hospital. Mr. Grubb was
“tired from the trip” but oth
erwise “improved.”
AMELIA—Mrs. Peter Frahm
returned from Neligh Friday
where she had been for a
week taking treatments at the
Philben sanitarium. . . . Mrs.
Vernon Sparks has not been
“feeling well.” She consulted
Dr. N. P. McKee in Atkinson.
He pronounced it “near pneu
monia” and gave her penicil
lin. . . . Mrs. Arthur Waldman
entered St. Vincent’s hospital
in Sioux City this week for a
major operation. . . . Donnie
Adams received a badly
sprained wrist Friday when a
cart with which he was play
ing upset, throwing him over
the cart and bending back his
wrist.
ATKINSON — Mrs. John
Jones is “very ill” at her
home in Atkinson. She has
been ailing for some time but
lately has required constant
care. . . Mrs. Dan O’Connell
arrived home from Norfolk on
Saturday, October 30, where
little Patricia, her two-year
old daughter, had been a pa
tient at Our Lady of Lourdes
hospital. The little girl is
“improved” but must continue
insulin shots.
O’NEILL — Miss Gertrude
Sullivan returned Sunday from
Norfolk, where she recently
underwent an appendectomy
at Our Lady of Lourdes hos
pital. . . . Mrs. Levi Fuller
took her son, George, to Nor
folk for a checkup Saturday.
The Fetrow children, Marilyn,
Frank and Betty, accompanied
them. . . . Mrs. Ross Ridge
way is a patient in St. Jos
eph’s hospital in Omaha.

turned home last Thursday af
ter being a patient in St. Vin
cent’s hospital in Sioux City
for several days. He is “very
