At the geoeral election, November 1, 1948, there will be sub
mltted to tho elector* of the State of Nebraska for approval or rejec
tion the following amendment to Section 1, Article VIII of the Con
stitution of Nebraska, as proposed by the Legislature:
"Sec. 1. The necessary revenue of the state and lte governmental
subdivisions shall be raised by taxation in such manner as the Leg
islature may direct; but taxes shall be levied by valuation uniformly
and proportionately upon all tangible property and franchises, and
taxes uniform as to class may be levied by valuation upon all other
property. The Legislature may Impose taxes on reservations of
mineral rights and fissionable material In land and royalties. Taxes,
other than property taxes, may be authorised by law. Existing
revenue laws aball continue In effect until changed by the Legis
lature.'’

versity in Omaha.
Mrs. R. G. Goree, of Long
Pine, spent the weekend visit
ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
L. A. Simonson, and other rel
atives.
Miss Rosemary Biglin, a
teacher in one of the Omaha j
high schools, spent the week-1
end with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. William J. Biglin.
Arriving Friday for a visit
with her son, C. R. Hilll, and
family is Mrs. C. W. Hill, of
Hebron. Ralph Hill, another
son, accompanied his mother.
Returning Friday from a
two-weeks’ vacation visiting
friends and relatives in Ne
braska were Mr. and Mrs. F.
A. Volberding.
Mr. and Mrs. James W. Cor
kle completed a two-weeks’
vacation Saturday. They vis
ited Mrs. Corkle’s brother and
her cousin in Seattle, Wash.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Barnett,
of Lincoln, visited her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John McClellan,
and her aunt, Mrs. William
Egger. Mt. Barnett was also
here on business.
